Series 8700 / 8800 Unitized Curtain Wall Installation Instructions
1. The deglaze and re-glaze procedure must be performed from a swing stage or man lift from the exterior of the building. Follow the sealant manufacture’s
sealant application instruction for deglazing and re-glazing. When deglazing an opening or openings at a structural silicone glazed unit follow these
instructions:
a. Cut and remove the weather seal, side blocks and setting blocks, from around the lite of glazing.
b. Using tools, such as automotive deglazing tools, cut though the glazing sealant removing glazing, old gasket and sealant from the opening. Some
areas may be accessible from the interior.
c. Cut away the sealant from the substrate, leaving a thin film (approximately 1/32” thick) of sealant on the frame. Do not damage the surface finish of
the substrate. Alternatively, if the remaining sealant exhibits adhesive failure, completely remove all sealant, but take care not to damage the
substrate finish.
d. Remove all remaining gasket pieces or sealant residue from inside the gasket reglets.
