Tomakeyourshuttersactuallyfunctionyouneedtobemorecarefulwhenyoutakeyourwindow
measurements.Takethetimetomeasureaccuratelyasthiswillensuretheshuttersfunction thewayyou
expect.
Measureyourwindowsasiftheshutterswereactuallyclosedoverthem.Measuringwindowsforoperable
shuttersrequiresthatyoumeasurebothwidthandheightat3differentpointsbecausemanywindowsare
notperfectlysquare.Typically,youwillwanttheshuttertocoversomepartofthewindowtriminadditionto
thewindowframeandglass.Onabrickhomewithrecessedwindowsyou
willtypicallywantthefunctional
shuttertocovertheentireopeningin thebrick,notjustthewindowitself.
ShutterWidth
Measurefortheshutterwidthatthetop,middle, andbottomof
thewindowfromtheleftsidetotherightsideasshowninthe
diagram.Ifthewidthsateachofthesepointsarenotthesame,
usetheSMALLESTmeasurementofthethree.
Thismeasurementisthen
dividedby2togiveyouyouroperable
shutterwidth.Forexample,ifyourwindowwidthmeasurement
is31"wideatitsnarrowestpoint,youshouldorder15½"wide
shutters(31÷2=15.5).
ShutterHeight
Measurefortheshutterheightatthe leftside,middle,andright
sideofthewindowopeningfromthetopofthewindowtothe
bottomexcludinganywindowsill.Iftheheightsvaryateachof
thesepoints,usetheSMALLESTofthethreemeasurements.This
measurementwillbethe
heightoftheshutteryouneedtoorder.
