Operation Manual

Description and use of the control panel Page 25
Your ELAC subwoofer integrates an advanced, digital operating concept. Analogue rotary potentiometers and switches
are replaced by digital circuits and thus enable you to conveniently and accurately adjust your subwoofer. The sound
volumes can thus be read directly in dB (decibels) and frequencies in Hz (Hertz). This is especially advantageous when
calibrating your loudspeaker setup with the help of a test CD or measuring instrument, as this manual will show later.
Inadvertent adjustment of the controls is also excluded by the digital operation concept.
The control panel shows the following controls:
- the two arrow keys (left/right) and the selection key (centre) for menu navigation.
- An infrared diode for receiving control signals from a remote control
This diode should be in line of sight with the remote control to operate properly and not be covered.
- the stand-by LED
This LED indicates the operating status of your subwoofer. In this changes to stand-by mode
then this LED lights up.
After switching on, the subwoofer displays shows the start screen with the ELAC logo and the respective type desig-
nation of the subwoofer (see above, SUB 2080 D as example).
The control concept is in the form of a ring. With the aid of the two arrow keys you can reach the respective parame-
ter by scrolling clockwise or counter-clockwise and see their current values. Consequently this menu structure is
known as a rotation menu.
