the D1650.
The D1650 utilizes Class–T Digital
Technology for a low-heat/high-efficiency
design that can deliver clean, full-rated
power to all 16 channels simultaneously!
The D1650 was designed for multi-room
custom audio installations, and is the per-
fect companion amplifier for ELAN’s new
8-Zone A/V Controller – the System12 (see
page 10). With 16 channels of amplifica-
tion, it can power up to 8 stereo zones,
16 monaural zones, or any combination
thereof. A and B Stereo Busses allow you
to route one set of inputs to other inputs
without the use of additional cables.
Buffered Loop Output for each channel,
make it easy to configure multi-room lis-
tening areas in stereo or mono. Rated at
16 x 45WPC into 8 Ohms and 16 x 60WPC
into 4 Ohms, the D1650 delivers more than
enough power for any distributed audio
application.
ELAN’s patent-pending ACE™ technology
(Automatic Clip Eliminator™) makes the
D1650 virtually clip proof! ACE is a micro-
processor-controlled dynamic leveling cir-
cuit that eliminates clipping without the
typical audio degradation of traditional
compressor-based clipping circuits.
Class–T Digital Technology gives the D1650
an 85% efficiency rating – a spec unreach-
able by traditional Class-A/B amplifiers.
Class-T also has a THD + Noise specification
of less than 0.04% - a spec unreachable by
Class-D amplifiers. This low-heat/high-effi-
ciency design, combined with an ultra-
high-efficiency toroidal transformer and
200,000uF bulk storage capacitance
ensures that all 16 channels can deliver
their full-rated power at the same time.
Even when it’s running all-out, the D1650
remains cool and sounds clean. Class-T
topology also allowed us to make the
amplifier only three rack-spaces high –
that’s two rack-spaces less than other
amplifiers with the same or less total
power output.
The D1650 has a blue Vacuum Florescent
Display (VFD) to indicate channels and
level settings. Each channel can be individ-
ually adjusted via front panel buttons. The
‘lockout feature’ ensures that finely tuned
level settings cannot be inadvertently
changed. Sixteen blue LEDs indicate signal
presence for each channel. Sixteen red
LEDs indicate clipping and the automatic
activation of the ACE circuitry.
