Problem Solution
Engine is difficult to
start or does not
start at all:
1. Check the main fuse. Replace if necessary.
2. Check the fuel lines. Be sure it is full of fuel and that there are no bends or kinks
in the line. If large air bubbles are present in the fuel line, push the primer ball a
few more times or until the large air bubbles are no longer present.
3. Check the fuel filter. Inside the bike's gas tank is a fuel filter. Remove the filter
and examine it for signs of clogging. Replace if necessary.
4. Check the spark plug cap. Be sure all connections are clean and tight.
5. Check the spark plug for oil or gas build-up. Clean if necessary or replace
6. Check the spark plug gap clearance (0.6mm - 0.7mm).
7. Check for spark. Connect the spark plug wire to the spark plug. Do not screw
plug back into the motor. Slowly pull the manual pull start assembly. There should
be a small spark. If not, replace the spark plug or take your GAS CHOPPER
SCOOTER™ to a lawn mower shop or call the Electra Technical Support Line.
8. Be sure the fuel mixture ratio is correct. Too much oil in the gasoline will cause
the spark plug to foul.
9. Check the air filter. Be sure that the filter element is not clogged or dirty. Clean
or replace a dirty air filter element.
Engine starts but
runs poorly or shuts
down
1. Check the choke. Make sure it is all the way down in the OFF position.
2. Check the fuel line.
4. Check the gas tank cap. The gas cap has a small vent hole. If this hole is
clogged, the engine will run poorly.
5. Check the spark plug for oil or gas build-up. Clean if necessary or replace
6. Check the spark plug gap clearance (0.6mm - 0.7mm).
7. Examine the muffler and exhaust. Be sure that the muffler is not clogged with
carbon and oily build-up.
