Manipulating Sounds While
Overdubbing
Certain button pushes or slider movements
enable you to manipulate sounds while
overdubbing:
Move the TEMPO slider and use the TAP
button to achieve slowed-down or sped-up
sounding instruments or vocals. Press the TAP
button two or more times while in Overdub
mode to immediately match the loop’s BPM
speed to the tempo of your TAP presses. This
function works well for percussive loops, but
it may result in “out of tune” loops for pitch-
based loops.
The TAP button lights up when the TEMPO
slider is set to the same tempo at which
the original loop was recorded. Therefore,
if you move the TEMPO slider, the TAP
button will only light up when the TEMPO
slider is set to its original setting. This TAP
button indicator helps you to easily return
to the original pitch and tempo of the loop.
Press the OCT button to automatically drop
the pitch and tempo of the loop by exactly
one octave. Use the TEMPO slider to
change the speed of the loop in semitone
(1/2 step) increments (COARSE mode) or in
increments of 1 BPM (FINE mode). By
default, the TEMPO slider is set to COARSE
mode. The TEMPO slider resolution can be
changed in the Secondary Mode pages.
Press the REVERSE button at any time
(except when recording a New Loop) to
reverse the playback direction of the loop.
The Reverse function allows you to easily
record a backwards instrument track or
section.
When using the OCT and REVERSE buttons,
activating either function will act on all 6
tracks of the loop and the Mixdown track,
not just the active track.
Punching-In
If the PUNCH button is activated while overdubbing,
whatever was recorded previously on the active
track will be erased. Punching-In is useful for
situations where you want to fix a bad note or
simply to erase one section or track of a loop in
real time.
While playing back, push the active track’s
fader up so that you can properly hear the
track. Enable Punch-In and press RECORD: the
track will go silent. The 95000 simultaneously
erases the previously recorded audio and
records new material as the loop overdubs.
To perform a Punch-In:
1. Select the track you want to Punch-In.
2. Press the PUNCH button so that it lights.
3. Press the PLAY footswitch to play back
the loop.
4. Once you reach the point at which you
want to perform the Punch-In, press
RECORD. The 95000 immediately begins
erasing the “old” audio and records new
audio onto the active track.
5. When the Punch-In section is finished, press
RECORD again to stop recording while
continuing to listen to the loop.
