Maintenance
Although it is not necessaryto compactuntil the drawerisfull or
nearlyso, it is suggestedthat for maximumcompaction,youstart
the compactoreachtime a significantamountoftrash isadded.
At full stroke,the ramdoesnottravel all the wayto the bottom
of the trash bucket.Trashin the bottom 1/3 of the bucketwill be
crushedduringsubsequentcompacting.
,, Glassbottles canmakea loud noisewhenthey breakduring
compaction.This is normal.Bottles donot alwaysbreakduring
the first cycle. Breakingglassand associatednoisemayoccur
severalcycleslater dependingontype andvolume of trash.
,, Bottles and largecanscompact bestwhen laid flat nearthe
centerof thetrash bucket.
,, Placea coupleof foldedsheetsof newspaper,or a largepaper
grocerybagon topof the loadto be compactedwhen :
,, compacting largeor severalglassbottles orjars
(oranyitemsthat might shatter).Thiswill help
preventglassfragmentsand particlesfrom flying
out of bucket into mechanism.
,, compacting unwrappedmessyfood waste.
Thiswill help keepthe powerramclean.
,, Compactingextremeunevenloadsmaycausethe trash bucket to
shift forwardwhich maycausethe doorto openand interruptthe
compactioncycle. Gentlypushand holddoorclosedto activate
the ram until it returnsto the up position.Openthe trash bucket
and repositionanyobjectsthat maybecausingthe unevenload.
Closethe doorand re-activatethe compactioncycleby pressing
the start button.
,, Therearecertaintypesof trashthat createexceptionallystrong
odorssuchas rawmeat,fish, grapefruitrinds, personalhygiene
items,and disposablediapers.Youmay notwishto put such
itemsintoyour compactor.
,, If the compactorwill not be usedfor anextendedperiodof time,
suchas duringvacation,removethe bagto preventa build-up of
undesirableodor.
EXCEPT FOR CLEANING DESCRIBED iN THE FOLLOWING
SECTION, ALL SERVICE SHALL BE PERFORMED BY AN
AUTHORIZEDSERVICEREPRESENTATIVE.
Your compactor has been designed with easy access for
cleaning when required.
The interior and exterior of the cabinet are finished with a
durable baked-on enamel finish.
Do not use harsh or gritty cleanser or scouring pads
which may mar the finish of the compactor. Use a mild
detergent solution on these surfaces.
Glass fragments and other sharp trash pieces may
be on or around the surfaces to be cleaned. Carefully
remove these objects before wiping down any
surfaces.
REMOVE TRASH BUCKET AND CLEAN iNTERIOR
DO NOTCOMPACTAEROSOL CANS OR ANYOTHER
CONTAINERSSTILL HOLDING ORWHICH HELDTOXIC
CHEMICALS,iNSECTiCiDES,OR COMBUSTIBLECONTENTS.
FUMESMAY BE RELEASEDTHATARE HAZARDOUSTO
HEALTH OR MAY RESULTIN FiREOR EXPLOSION.
Do not put paint, oily rags, lighterfluid cans, paintthinner
cans, etc., in your compactor. Doing so could result in
spontaneous combustion causing a fire and/or explosion.
NEVER PUSHTRASH iNTOTHE BUCKETWITH HANDS OR
FEET.Trash might contain broken glass, sharp pieces of
metal, etc., which could cause injury.
Bag Removal

Slide out trash bucket.
Release bucket latches and
lower front of bucket.
Unbutton bag from bucket
and close by twisting bag
top. Fasten with twist-tie
provided.
Lift and slide bag from bucket.
