Defrosting
Refrigerator compartment
The refrigerator compartment de-
frostsautomatically.Thecondensate
evaporatesautomaticallythroughthe
compressorheat.
Ensurethatthewatercanflowwithout
hindrancethroughtheholeabovethe
vegetablebins.
Freezer compartment
Aftertheappliancehasbeeninoperationforsometime,alayer
offrostoricewillformontheinsidewalls.Thisincreasesenergy
consumption.Thereforedefrostthefreezercompartmentregularly.
•Switch the appliance off to
defrost.Pulloutthemainsplug
orpressthefreezercompart-
ment- On/Offbutton

thatthetemperature display
goesdark.
• Removethedrawersandglassshelves.
• Wrapthefrozenfoodinpaperorblanketsandstoreinacool
place.
• Tospeedupthedefrostingprocessputasaucepanofhotwater
onthecompartmentfloor.
• Leave thedoorofthe appliance openwhile defrosting. After
defrostingmopuptheremainingwaterandcleantheappliance.
Do not use any mechanical devices or other
artificial aids for defrosting other than those
recommended by the manufactur er.
Shutting your appliance down
Ifyourapplianceistobeshutdownforanylengthoftime,switch
itoffanddisconnecttheplugorswitchofforunscrewthefuse.
Cleantheapplianceandleavethedooropeninordertoprevent
unpleasantsmells.

Alltypesandmodelsaresubjecttocontinuousimprovementand

Malfunctions
You may be able to rectify the following faults by checking
the possible causes yourself:
• Appliance does not function:
–Istheapplianceswitchedon?
–Istheplugcorrectlyfittedinthemainssocket?
–Isthefuseintact?
• Loud running noise:
–Istheappliancesetupfirmlyonthefloor?
–Doestheappliancecausenearbyitemsoffurnitureorobjectsto
vibrate?Pleasenotethatnoisescausedbytherefrigerantcircuit
cannotbeavoided.
• The temperature is not low enough:
–Isthetemperaturesettingcorrect(see"Settingthetemperature")?
–Haveexcessiveamountsoffreshfoodbeenplacedintheappli-
ance?
–Does the separatelyinstalled thermometershow the correct
reading?
–Istheventilationsystemworkingproperly?
–Istheappliancesetuptooclosetoaheatsource?
• The inside of the appliance may feel warm in places
–Thatisquitenormal.Thedissipatedheatisnecessaryfornormal
operationoftheappliance.

Cleaning
Before cleaning, always switch o the appliance. Disconnect
from the mains or unscrew or switch o the fuse.
•Cleantheinside,equipmentandouterwallswithlukewarmwater
andalittledetergent.Donotuseabrasiveoracidcleanersor
chemicalsolvents.
•Ensure that no cleaning water penetrates into the electrical
componentsorventilationgrille.
• Dryallpartswellwithacloth.
• Donotdamageorremovethetypeplateontheinsideofthe
appliance.Itisveryimportantforservicingpurposes.
Do not use steam cleaners because of the risk
of injury and damage.
