Use the Analog Rytm MKII compressor when you incorporate sounds from external instruments in your
composition.
The following example shows how an old drum machine is hooked up to the Analog Rytm MKII. The stereo
output from the drum machine can be compressed to fit in nicely, and its patterns started, stopped and
tempo controlled, using the Analog Rytm MKII.
1. Prepare a rhythm pattern on your heritage drum machine.
2. Connect the stereo outputs of the drum machine to the inputs of the Analog Rytm MKII using a mono to
stereo split phone cord.
3. Connect the MIDI Out of the Analog Rytm MKII to the SYNC of the drum machine.
4. In the GLOBAL SETTINGS > MIDI PORT CONFIGURATION menu of the Analog Rytm MKII, set OUT
PORT FUNC to DIN24.
5. Start the rhythm on the drum machine and access the COMPRESSOR of the Analog Rytm MKII by
pressing the [FX] key, then the [AMP] key. Set the parameters according to taste.
6. Prepare a rhythm on the Analog Rytm MKII.
16.3 ANALOG RYTM MKII WITH OTHER ELEKTRON GEAR
To P.A.
Analog Rytm MKII works very well together with other Elektron devices. Here, it is used together with an
Octatrack MKII and an Analog Four MKII.
