15.2.6 TRANSFERRING SAMPLES FROM A COMPUTER TO DIGITAKT
1. Connect Digitakt to the computer via USB.
2. Open the Elektron Transfer utility software on your computer.
3. Select the USB MIDI port(s) for your Digitakt on the Transfer start screen.
4. Drag and drop the samples to the Elektron Transfer main window. The samples will automatically
be transferred to a default directory (if no other is set) “transfers-yymmdd” that is created in the
+Drive storage of the Digitakt. Elektron Transfer automatically converts all audio files to 16 bit, 48
kHz, mono audio files, the Digitakt native audio format.
The time of the transfer depends on the size of the samples. During the transfer, a progress bar on the
screen will show how much of the sample has been received, provided that you have the destination
directory open on the Digitakt.
To use the samples, they need to be loaded to the active project. For more information, please see “15.2.1
LOADING A SAMPLE” on page 56.
The Digitakt still supports receiving of samples via MIDI Sample Dump Standard (SDS) and Extended
SDS. The Elektron C6 software supports this transfer protocol. You need to enable SDS Handshake in
order to secure the transmission over fast interfaces like USB MIDI. You also have to enable the trans-
mission of the Extended SDS header if you want the sample name to be sent to the Digitakt (if not, the
samples will simply be named 1, 2, 3 ... and so on in the destination directory of the Digitakt).
15.2.7 CREATING A NEW DESTINATION DIRECTORY
This procedure is only for when you use the Elektron C6 software transfer tool. If you use Elektron
Transfer you can create a new destination directory in the Digitakt directly from Elektron Transfer.
On the main screen, press [ARROW] key [RIGHT] to access the right side menu. Select CREATE DIR to
create a new directory by pressing [YES]. A naming screen will appear. Give your new destination direc-
tory an appropriate name. Press [YES] to open the new directory. In the initially empty directory, press
[ARROW] key [LEFT] to open the left side menu. Highlight UPLOAD HERE and press [YES].
Samples sent from a computer will be written into the new destination directory. Note that any new or
existing directory can be set to be the destination directory in a similar manner, accessing the left side
menu, except for the FACTORY directory which is write-protected. A directory can be deleted or re-
named by highlighting it, accessing the right-hand menu and selecting DELETE DIR or RENAME.
