Use the USB connection to back up sets to a computer hard disk.
8.5.2 OS UPGRADE
Download the Octatrack OS file from the Elektron website. Connect the Octatrack to a computer using
a USB cable, select USB DISK MODE and press [YES] to make the Octatrack’s Compact Flash card
appear as an external mass storage device in the computer. Then place the OS file with the file exten-
sion .bin in the root (the top level of the file structure and not inside any folder) of the Compact Flash
card. Exit USB DISK mode, select OS UPGRADE and then press [YES]. A prompt will appear asking if
you want to continue with the OS upgrade. Press [YES] to upgrade the OS. Press [NO] to cancel the
operation.
• You can also use the MIDI UPGRADE option in the STARTUP menu to upgrade the Octa-
track OS. For more information, please see “18.3 MIDI UPGRADE” on page 112.
• The active project will automatically be synced to the Compact Flash card before the
OS is upgraded.
8.5.3 DATE/TIME
Here the date and time of the built-in clock are set.
Navigate between the date and time settings using the [LEFT] and [RIGHT] arrow keys. Use the [UP]
and [DOWN] arrow keys to adjust the settings. Press [YES] to confirm.
8.5.4 PERSONALIZE
Here you can customize the behavior of the Octatrack MKII. Open the menu by selecting it and pressing
[YES]. Activate and deactivate settings by pressing [YES]. It is also possible to use the [LEFT]/[RIGHT]
arrow keys for this.
QUANTIZE LIVE REC will when checked quantize notes input while in LIVE RECORDING mode to full
sequencer steps. When this option is unchecked notes will be quantized according to the micro timing
resolution, which is 1/384 steps.
PREVIEW WITHOUT FX will when unchecked preview samples through the track eects of the active
track. If checked, track eects will not aect the previewed sample.
MUTE FOCUSES TRACK will when checked make a track active when being muted through pressing
[FUNC] + [TRACK].
CUE FOCUSES TRACK will when checked make a track active when it is being cued by pressing
[CUE] + [TRACK].
CUE MUTES TRACK will when checked combine the cue and mute functions. When a track is being
cued it will at the same time automatically be muted.
DISABLE FUNCTION + ENCODER will when checked disable all functions that normally occur when
[FUNC] is held and an encoder turned.
DISABLE YES/NO ARM will when checked disable the one shot trig arming and disarming when
simply pressing [YES] or [NO]. Note that when this arm/disarm functionality is disabled, the same
