Wireless Key (HIS20USB)

Installation and Operating Instructions

I. Function Overview:

1. OS: Windows XP / Windows 7

2. Minimum system requirements:

CPU: Core 2 Duo

RAM: 2G

HD: 20GB (requires at least 20G of space

available on your PC’s hard drive to install the

drivers, Microsoft .Net Framework and HIS PC

software)

3. USB 1.0/1.1/2.0 compatible.

4. RF supported: 868.35 Mhz

5. Once the system is activated, it will be

automatically linked to HIS20USB (Wireless

key).

6. Accessible and configurable Home Box

settings include:

1. Scene: Scenario settings

Supports up to 16 scenarios.

2. Event: Event settings

Supports up to 32 events.

3. Schedule: Schedule settings

Supports up to 32 schedules.

4. Event Log: Browse Home Box event log.

Supports up to 100 events.

5. Gateway Setup: Gateway setting

1.GSM: Settings for the currently

supported GSM Gateways.

2.SMS: Configure the content of SMS

notification to be sent when the alarm

has been triggered.

6. Device Setup:

1.868 MHz Security Device:

(1)Remote / Sensor: for security TX

devices; supports up to 32 wireless

devices and 4 wired security devices

including PIR / Magnetic / Remote /

Keypad / Flood / Smoke and so forth.

devices; supports configurations for up

to 12 devices including Wireless Key /

GSM Gateway and so forth.

II. Instructions for installation:

Connect HIS20USB (Wireless key) to your PC’s USB

port after you have installed its driver. The installation

process is described as follows:

2-1. To install the Wireless key driver (PL-2303

USB-to-Serial), run Step1_HIS20USB

-3. Check the [Connector Port] item under [Device Manager]; you should see Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COMx) (the value for COMx will vary on different PCs) appearing as a device. 2-4. Since Home Integrated System is developed based on Microsoft’s .Net Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2, you must first install Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 on your system in order to use the software. To do so, run NetFx20SP2_x86.exe. 2-2.

If your system is running on a non-Windows Vista OS, simply install Home Integrated System in the default path. However, if your system is running on Windows Vista OS, do not install the application in the default path (C:\Program Files\NLRO\Home Integrated System); instead, change the installation path to D:\Home Integrated System.

Windows Vista has been designed with an additional protection for all files in the folder C:\Program Files and any attempt to overwrite any files in the folder will be forbidden by the OS. Consequently, this protection will render the application unable to apply the configurations that the user has made and lead to application error. Should your current OS have similar protection, be sure to disable it or seek assistance from your system administrator.

3. The system will display a small function menu above the icon and you can specify the location of the function key. In this example, [I] has been chosen and this means Funckey [I] has been redefined to [All On]. Main functions you will find under “Home” include: 1-1 Configure Funckey. 1-2 Execute Funckey. 1-3 Show device information. 1-1. 1-2. Show device information Click on any device to access a window (see below) that contains specific information about the device, such as Device Name, Device Type, Number, Location and so forth. OK Examples: II. Sync When you click The PC software is intended as an assistive program for Home Box setup. Setup is only complete after all the settings made on your PC have been applied to the Home Box with the Sync function.

III. Event Log Use this function to browse the latest event log from Home Box in the current window. IV. Add Device 4-1. Add New Device By adding new devices using the “Add New Device” function, you may add all available devices to be displayed in the window. Simply specify the appearance, type and icon of the device that you wish for Home Box to add (learn code) and follow the system’s prompts. : Click to load the latest event log from Home Box and display it on screen.

Replace Device You will find all devices that have completed the process of code learning in the window and you can simply click the device you wish to replace.

V. Setting 5-1. Scenes To create or maintain a Scene, select [Setting] in the Top Menu and click “Scenes” in the menu to the left. You will find a number of default Scenes that comes with the system that you can use or refer to. The system supports up to a maximum of 16 Scenes and once you have reached the cap, the [Add New Scene] button will turn grey. 4-3. Add Home Box If your Wireless Key is damaged or malfunctions, you may need to purchase a new Wireless Key.

When the system identifies such conflicting configuration, it will disable the Scene and render it unavailable to the user. Action 2 is executed. Example 2: This is what will happen if you try to skip ahead to Step2 and have the system execute the Scenes. In this example, we will select Scene1. Step4: Do Action 2 The steps and rules for Action 2 are identical to what have been covered for Action 1. Refer to the descriptions for Action 1 if needed. If you wish to simplify the configuration process, simply complete the settings for Step1 and Step2; Steps 3 and 4 are optional. 5-3.

Schedules”. 5-3-2. Maintaining Schedules To maintain an existing Schedule, simply click on the icon of the desired Schedule to access the Schedule maintenance screen. The following section will cover relevant Event maintenance information: Name: Schedule Name; you may create a name for the selected Schedule for easy identification. Number: Denotes the number of Schedules currently available on the system; you can have up to a maximum of 16 Events.

Note: Please ensure that Scenes that involve the action of disarming security modes may not be included in a Schedule. When the system identifies such conflicting configuration, it will disable the Scene and render it unavailable to the user. Refer to the following example: Step4: Do Action 2 The steps and rules for Action 2 are identical to what have been covered for Action 1. Refer to the descriptions for Action 1 if needed.

Example: When you click window will pop up. : Use this function to change the icon for the selected device. : Use this function to display the location where the selected device is used for reference. : Use this function to remove the selected device from Home Box. When you use this function to remove a device, all functions that involve the use of this device will be removed as well.

5-5-6. Time&Languages You can configure the time on Home Box and PC software language here. 5-5-4. Dial You can access various dial settings here. For instruction on other detailed settings, please refer to the instruction manual for Home Box. : Click to fill the fields with your PC’s current date and time. Example: The system will automatically fill in the current date and time on your PC into the corresponding fields when you click . 5-5-5. Siren You can configure relevant Siren settings here.

Please note that actions such as Add Device / Replace Device / Remove Device take effect immediately during the operation of Home Box and that they will remain effective even if you do not synchronize the software with Home Box. Ⅳ. Troubleshooting 1-1. By default, the software will attempt to establish connection with Home Box upon startup. When the software is unable to access the data on Home Box, it will display the following message to remind the user. 5-5-8.

automatically attempt to re-access data and proceed with the corresponding actions. 4. Did you try to operate Home Box directly and remove the Wireless Key from Enhance / 7-1 Enhance Device? Please use the Add Device – Add Home Box function to have the Wireless Key learn the code from Home Box. Once that has been done, the system will automatically attempt to re-access the data and proceed with the corresponding actions. 1-2.
