Smart Bleed™ Airset
An airset that is smart enough to know when
fail-safe conditions must be executed

Ensuring Actuator Failure Mode
Any airset piped directly to an actuator or to devices that
consume air intermittently can lead to a problem of trapping
pressure in the actuator if a xed bleed is not installed. The
trapped pressure locks the actuator in last position. Since
regulators respond to changes in downstream pressure, not
inlet pressure, the regulator remains locked up when supply
pressure is lost. A means to exhaust the trapped pressure
is required.

Smart Bleed Airset allows downstream pressure in an
actuator or other instrument to exhaust if supply pressure
is lost. In turn allowing the actuator to fail in the desired

position. The use of the Smart Bleed eliminates the need for a
xed bleed, and should be used when supplying air to a dead-
end system.
Lower operating costs
The cost to power pneumatic instruments in chemical,
hydrocarbon and process industries is continuing to increase,
and along with it the need to minimize leakage wherever
possible. Intensive laboratory testing shows the Type 67CFR
internal relief valve has tight shutoff. Combined with the
benets of the Smart Bleed, continuous steady state air
consumption is eliminated. Plant resources are conserved
and the cost to power pneumatic and digital instruments
is reduced.
