Unpacking Instructions (Continued) This Manual Is Designed to Make it as Easy as Possible for You to Assemble, Install, Operate and Maintain Your Ceiling Fan Tools Needed for Assembly One Phillips head screwdriver One 1/4” blade screwdriver Materials Your Emerson Ceiling Fan comes supplied with a Fan Wall Control. This system allows you to regulate your ceiling fan speed.
3.1 3. Ceiling Fan Assembly GREEN GROUND WIRE Remove the hanger ball by loosening the Phillips head set screw in the hanger ball until the ball falls freely down the downrod (Figure 1). PIN Remove the pin from the downrod, then remove the hanger ball (Figure 1). 4.5" DOWNROD Retain the pin and hanger ball for reinstallation in Step 3.7. HANGER BALL PHILLIPS HEAD SET SCREW (LOOSENED) Figure 1 3.2 TWO 80" MOTOR LEADS (UNTWISTED) Separate, untwist and unkink the two motor leads.
3. Ceiling Fan Assembly 3.4 Align the clevis pin holes in the downrod with the holes in the motor coupler. HAIRPIN CLIP CLEVIS PIN Install the clevis pin and secure with the hairpin clip (Figure 4). MOTOR COUPLING The clevis pin must go through the holes in the motor coupler. It is critical that the clevis pin in the motor coupler is properly installed and securely tightened. CLEVIS PIN Retighten the two Phillips head set screws to secure the downrod to the motor (Figure 4).

Ceiling Fan Assembly (Continued) PIN HANGER BALL Route the two motor leads through the hanger ball (Figure 7). 4.5" DOWNROD Reinstall the hanger ball on the downrod as follows: Position the pin through the two holes in the downrod and align the hanger ball so the pin is captured in the groove in the top of the hanger ball (Figure 7). PHILLIPS HEAD SET SCREW Pull the hanger ball up tight against the pin and securely retighten the Phillips head set screw in the hanger ball (Figure 7).

Ceiling Fan Assembly 3.9 (Continued) PARTIALLY ASSEMBLED CEILING FAN Turn the partially assembled ceiling fan upside down, place the ceiling fan onto the two carton styrofoam pieces, in preparation for final assembly (Figure 9). REMOVE & DISCARD SHIPPING SPACERS & ATTACHMENT SCREWS (6) Remove the six shipping spacers and the spacer attachment screws from the motor before installation of blade assemblies (Figure 9). Discard the six shipping spacers and spacer screws. Figure 9 3.
! 4. How to Hang Your Ceiling Fan WARNING CEILING The fan must be hung with at least 7' of clearance from floor to blades (Figure 12). AT LEAST 7' Figure 12 ! WARNING The outlet box and joist must be securely mounted and capable of supporting at least 50 lbs. Use only a U.L. outlet box listed as “Acceptable for Fan Support of 22.7 kg. (50 lbs.) or less”.
4.2 4. How to Hang Your Ceiling Fan NOTE: CEILING COVER, SUPPLY WIRES AND FAN WIRES OMITTED FOR CLARITY. Carefully lift the fan and seat the hanger ball/ downrod assembly on the hanger bracket that was just attached to the outlet box (Figure 14). Be sure the groove in the ball is engaged with the antirotation tab on the hanger bracket (Figure 14). ! OUTLET BOX WARNING HANGER BRACKET Failure to seat tab in groove could cause damage to electrical wires and possible shock or fire hazard.
5.1 5. Final Assembly Remove one #6-32 x 0.312” pan head screw from the motor hub and retain for later use. Loosen the other two #6-32 x 0.312” pan head screws on the motor hub for the installation of the switch housing adapter. MOTOR HUB Place the motor hub connector through the center hole of the switch housing adapter. Place the switch housing adapter onto the motor hub, aligning the three screw holes (Figure 15).
6. How to Wire Your Ceiling Fan If you feel that you do not have enough electrical wiring knowledge or experience, have your fan installed by a licensed electrician. ! WARNING GROUND CONDUCTOR SUPPLY To avoid possible electrical shock, be sure electricity is turned off at the main fuse box before wiring. NOTE: If you are not sure if the outlet box is grounded, contact a licensed electrician for advice, as it must be grounded for safe operation. LISTED WIRE CONNECTOR 6.
6.3 6. How to Wire Your Ceiling Fan (Continued) Securely connect the fan motor black wire to the supply black (hot) wire using wire connector (supplied) (Figure 20). SUPPLY BLACK (HOT) LISTED WIRE CONNECTOR FAN MOTOR BLACK WIRE Figure 20 6.4 After connections have been made, turn leads upward and carefully push leads into the outlet box, with the white and green leads on one side of the outlet box and position the black lead on the other side of the outlet box (Figure 21).
6.5 6. How to Wire Your Ceiling Fan (Continued) Screw the two threaded studs (supplied) into the tapped holes in the hanger bracket (Figure 22). THREADED STUDS (2) Figure 22 6.6 Lift the ceiling cover up to the threaded studs and turn until studs protrude through the holes in the ceiling cover (Figure 23). CEILING COVER Secure the ceiling cover in place by sliding lockwashers over the threaded studs and installing the two knurled knobs (supplied). (Figure 23).
! 7. Installing the Wall Control WARNING Turning off wall switch is not sufficient. To avoid possible electrical shock, be sure electricity is turned off at the main fuse box before wiring. All wiring must be in accordance with National and Local codes and the ceiling fan must be properly grounded as a precaution against possible electrical shock. 7.1 This control is designed to operate only one ceiling fan WALL SWITCH Before disconnecting power, ensure that the fan is set at the highest speed.
7.3 7. Installing the Wall Control (Continued) WALL OUTLET BOX Attach the SW46W Fan Control to the wall outlet box with two 6-32 x 3/4” screws (provided with control). SW46 FAN CONTROL Position the faceplate (provided with control) onto the speed control. 9. Maintenance IMPORTANT CARE INSTRUCTIONS for your Ceiling Fan ! WARNING ! WARNING Do not use water when cleaning your ceiling fan. It could damage the motor or the blades and create the possibility of an electrical shock. Periodic cleaning of your new ceiling fan is the only maintenance that is needed. When cleaning, use only a soft brush or lint free cloth to avoid scratching the finish. Abrasive cleaning agents are not required and should be avoided to prevent damage to finish. 10.

5. Ensamblaje final 5.1 Retire un tornillo de cabeza troncocónica núm. 6-32 x 0,312 pulgadas del núcleo del motor y reténgalo para usarlo más tarde. Desserrez les deux autres vis à tête cylindrique bombée N° 6-32 x 0,312 po sur le moyeu du moteur en vue de l’installation de l’adaptateur du cache du boîtier de l’interrupteur. Insérez le connecteur du moyeu du moteur à travers le trou central de l’adaptateur du boîtier de l’interrupteur.

7. Installation de la commande murale 7.1 AVERTISSEMENT Éteindre l’interrupteur mural ne suffit pas. Pour éviter tout choc électrique éventuel, assurez-vous que l’alimentation électrique est coupée au niveau du boîtier des fusibles avant d’effectuer le câblage. Tout le câblage doit être conforme aux dispositions du Code national d’électricité et des codes d’électricité locaux.

Positionnez la plaque frontale de fixation (fournie avec la commande) au-dessus de la commande de vitesse.

Maintenance AVERTISSEMENT INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANTES CONCERNANT L’ENTRETIEN de votre ventilateur de plafond N’utilisez pas d’eau lorsque vous nettoyez votre ventilateur de plafond car ceci pourrait endommager le moteur ou les pales et vous exposer à un risque de choc électrique. Pour maintenir votre ventilateur de plafond en bon état, il vous suffit simplement de le nettoyer périodiquement. Lorsque vous le nettoyez, utilisez une brosse douce ou un tissu non pelucheux pour éviter de rayer la finition.
