PREPARATION FOR USE Unpacking And Set Up • Remove the unit from the carton, and remove all packing materials from the unit. • Save the carton and packing materials in case the unit ever needs to be returned for service. Using the original carton and packing materials is the only way to safely repack the unit for shipment. • Remove any descriptive labels or stickers from the top or front of the unit. Do not remove any labels from the back or bottom of the cabinet.
Power Source This system is designed to operate on 120VAC 60Hz house current only. Connecting this system to any other power source may cause damage to the system and such damage is not covered by your warranty. Note: The system has polarized AC plug with one wide blade and one narrow blade. The plug will only fit into matching polarized AC outlets. This is a safety feature to reduce the possibility of electric shock.
Battery Back Up System This unit uses a single 9-Volt battery (not included) to maintain the time and alarm settings in the event that it is accidentally unplugged, or you experience a temporary power failure. We recommend that you install a well-known brand of Alkaline battery for longest life and best performance. To keep the battery back up system operational you should install a new battery every 6 to 9 months.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Setting The Time Of Day • Connect the power cord to your AC outlet. Make sure to use an outlet that is always ‘live’. Do not use an outlet that is controlled by a wall switch. • When the unit is plugged in for the first time PROGRAM REPEAT RANDOM POWER FM ST. PM the display will show flashing “12:00” (AM). Setting The Wake Up Times The unit has two separate wake up alarms that can be set and used independently. 1.) Press the ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button once. The display will change from the respective time of day to wake up time and begin flashing. The ALM 1 or ALM 2 indicator comes “On”. 2.) Press the HOUR button to set the wake up hour. Set correctly for AM or PM. 3.) Press the MINUTE button to set the minute correctly, press the respective ALARM button once. The Alarm time is set.
Listening To The Radio PROGRAM 1.) Press the POWER button to turn the unit “On”. The POWER indicator comes on. REPEAT RANDOM POWER FM ST. PM ALM 1 ALM 2 2.) Playing Compact Discs Note: Although this CD player can read CD-R and CD-RW discs, in addition to normal CDs, however the playability of CD-R/RW discs may be affected by the type of software that was used to create the discs, as well as the quality and condition of the blank media you are using. 100% playability cannot be guaranteed. Repeat Playback You can program the player to repeat a single track or the entire disc continuously. One Track Repeat 1.) Load your disc and wait until the total track number is displayed. 2.) Press the P•MODE button once. PROGRAM REPEAT RANDOM POWER FM ST. PM The REPEAT indicator flashes. 3.) Press or ALM 1 button to select the track to be repeated. When the track number is still flashing, press the ALM 2 PLAY•PAUSE button. The selected track will be repeated continuously.
Random Playback To listen to the tracks on a disc in random order: 1.) Load your disc and wait until the total track number is displayed. 2.) Press the P•MODE button three times. PROGRAM REPEAT RANDOM POWER FM ST. PM The RANDOM indicator comes “On”. 3.) Press the ALM 1 ALM 2 PLAY•PAUSE button. The player will select a track at random and playback begins on that track. The selected track number appears in the display for a few seconds.
Programmed Playback The CD player in this unit has a 20 track programmable memory which allows you to program any disc to play just the tracks you want to hear in the exact order that you want to hear them. You may program a track or tracks to play more than once if desired. Note: Programming can only be done while the player is in the Stop mode. If STOP button to stop playback before performing a disc is playing press the the programming steps below. 1.
PLAY•PAUSE 7.) After you have programmed all the desired tracks press the button to begin programmed playback. The PROGRAM indicator stops flashing and remains ‘On’. Auxiliary Input Jack (Connection Cable Not Included) This unit includes an AUX IN input jack to allow you to connect external devices, such as an iPod® or portable MP3 player, and listen to the music stored on your external device through the speakers of this radio. Connect the headphone jack of your external device to the AUX IN input jack located on the left side of this unit. The connection cable is not included.
Alarm Operation This unit gives you the option of waking to an electronic Buzzer alarm, the AM/FM Radio, or the CD player. Notes: A.) Whichever alarm mode you select – BUZZER, CD or RADIO – will apply to both alarms. Refer to “Setting The Wake Up Times” on page 10. Adjust the wake up time(s) if necessary. B.) If you have any external device connected to the AUX IN jack, the alarm will automatically default to the Buzzer, even though the FUNCTION selector may be set to the RADIO or CD position.
Wake To Radio 1.) Set the FUNCTION selector to RADIO position. Set the BAND selector to FM ST. or AM, and tune to the desired station. 2.) Adjust the VOLUME level then press POWER button to turn “Off” 3.) Press the ALARM 1 and/or ALARM 2 buttons. The respective Alarm time flashes for few seconds, then returns to correct time. The ALM 1, ALM 2 or both indicators come “On”. 4.) At the selected wake up time the Radio turns “On”. PROGRAM REPEAT RANDOM POWER FM ST. PM The ALM indicator flashes.
Wake To CD 1.) Set the FUNCTION selector to CD position and playback the disc as usual. 2.) Adjust the VOLUME level then press POWER button to turn “Off” 3.) Press the ALARM 1 and/or ALARM 2 buttons. The respective Alarm time flashes for few seconds, then returns to correct time. The ALM 1, ALM 2 or both indicators come “On”. 4.) At the selected wake up time the CD turns “On” and starts playback Track 01. PROGRAM REPEAT RANDOM POWER FM ST. PM The ALM indicator flashes.
Sleep To Music Timer You can use the sleep timer to fall asleep to the Radio or CD player for 90, 60, 30 or 15 minutes and have the unit shut off automatically. • Press the POWER button or simply the SLEEP button to turn the power “On”. Operate the Radio or CD player as usual. Adjust the volume to the desired level. The level you select for “Sleep To Music” is the same level you will hear when the alarm turns “On” in the morning.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE Compact Disc Care • To remove a disc from its storage case, press down on the center of the case and lift the disc out, holding it carefully by the edges. • Fingerprints and dust should be carefully wiped off the disc’s recorded surface with a soft cloth.Unlike conventional records, compact discs have no grooves to collect dust and microscopic debris, so gently wiping with a soft cloth should remove most particles. Wipe in a straight line from the inside to the outside of the disc.
