EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
n Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related eld (*preference will be
given to those with earned advanced degrees)
n Hands-on laboratory classwork related to measurement and instrumentation, experience
with sensors and general metrology, modeling of physical systems, and algorithm
development experience considered a plus
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
n Possess above average computer skills, including programming and networking
n Possess strong numerical methods skills
n Possess demonstrated understanding of statistical analysis
n Be self-motivated and function well in a team environment
n Be able to work independently
n Be able prioritize near-term work and set a longer-term technical strategy
n Possess a keen interest in the relevant technical elds
n Possess effective communication and interpersonal skills
n Working knowledge of Fisher product line or process control equipment considered a plus
POSITION SUMMARY
n The role of Prognostics Engineer is a technical career track position within the Advanced
Technologies organization that focuses on the development and implementation of
diagnostic and prognostic health monitoring technology for nal process control element
systems. Emphasis will be on physics based and data driven model development of
electro-mechanical systems, application of sensor and signal processing technology and
algorithm development.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS
n This is an individual contributor position with no initial responsibility for direct supervision
of other full-time personnel. Supervision of supporting co-op students and contract
personnel is expected. It is also expected that the person lling this position will provide
technical leadership and mentor junior employees as they progress in the position. The
position holds potential for team leadership and management responsibilities as interest,
skills and needs allow.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
* Progression on the technical ladder will be commensurate with mastery and execution of these responsibilities.

Provide engineering support and leadership to a team responsible for developing a new
generation of process control hardware
n Engineering analysis, hands-on laboratory investigation, computer programming and
written and verbal communication of results
n Cultivating an understanding of relevant markets and customer needs to support
identication and denition of project objectives
n Electro-mechanical component design
n Signal processing and analysis
n Design, setup and execution of software, valve, piezo-based transducers and electronics testing
n Model development of physical systems
n Development of numerical algorithms to support real time signal processing
n Prepare and deliver documentation as appropriate
