1 Drill a hole in the primary rain barrel 5” down from the bottom edge of the rim on the opposite side of the rain barrel from the downspout connection tubing. Drill another hole 5” down from the bottom edge of the second barrel’s rim and facing the first rain barrel. These holes must be level with each other to allow the water to flow in either direction. Using light pressure, a pulsating on-off method and stopping immediately after drilling through side of barrel produces the best results.
