QoS
The QoS enables trafc to be prioritized, excessive
broadcastand multicasttrafc tobe avoidedand overall
bandwidth to be limited on a port-by-port basis. .
802.1p Default Priority
IEEE 802.1p specication enables Switches to prioritize
trafc and perform dynamic multicast ltering. The
prioritizationspecicationworksatthemediaaccesscontrol
(MAC)framinglayer(layer2).The802.1pheaderincludesa
three-biteldforprioritization,whichallowspacketstobe
groupedintovarioustrafcclasses.The802.1ptrafcis
simplyclassiedandsenttothedestination;nobandwidth
reservations are established. The priority level is from 0
to 7. EnGenius Smart Switch supports four class quality
levels:low,normal,medium,andhigh.Tondouthowto
map the priority value to one of the four classes, refer to
“CoS Priority Class” on page 33.
Port: Shows the port number.
Trunk: Showsthetrunknumber(ifanyaredenedforthis
port).Portsassignedtothesametrunkgroupareassigned
the same priority level.
Priority: Select the Priorityforuntaggedtrafcarrivingon
this port.
Apply: Click Apply to update system settings.
