MonthlymaintenanceshouldincludethestepslistedinthissectionASWELLAS
thestepslistedinthe“DailyMaintenance”and“Bi‐weeklyMaintenance”section.
Intervalsbetweenmonthlycleaningswilldependonthedurationthatthestoveis
burningonadailybasis.Astovewhichisoperatedcontinuously
willneedmore
frequentmonthlycleaningsthanastovewhichisusedperiodicallyas
supplementalheat.
Agoodruleofthumbformonthlymaintenanceisthatitshouldbedoneeach
timeanentiretonofpelletsisburnedORoncepermonth,whichevercomesfirst.
Ifexcess
ashaccumulationisfoundintheexhaustchamberorventingsystem
duringmonthlymaintenance,theintervalbetweencleaningsshouldbereduced
toeliminatethepossibilityofpoorstoveperformanceduetoashaccumulation.
ExhaustChamberCleaning
Theexhaustchamberofthestovewasintentionallydesignedasanashaccumulation
area.Allowingashtoaccumulateherepreventsexcessashbuild‐upinthecombustion
blowerandtheventingsystem.Similarly,theexhaustchamberiseasilyaccessiblevia
thetwoexhaustchamberclean‐outportslocatedinthe
firebox.
*Beforecleaningouttheexhaustchamber,firstperformthecleaningofthefirebox
shelfaslistedunderbi‐weeklymaintenance.
Using a

”socketwrench,removethescrewswhichholdeachoftheclean‐out
coversinplace.Thecleanoutcoversarelocatedonthebackwallofthefirebox,near
thebottom.
RemovethecleanoutcoversfromthefireboxandBEFOREvacuumingthechamber
out,observethetypeandquantityofashbuild‐up.Theashdepositedintheexhaust
chambershouldbelight,fluffy,greyorwhiteincolor,andshouldbenohigherthan
halfwayuptheclean‐outport.
DoNOTallowtheashtoaccumulatehigherthanabouthalfwayupthecleanout
port;significantashaccumulationinthisareacan“choke”thecombustionblower
andcausepoorstoveperformance.
Usingautilitytypevacuumcleaner,vacuumtheflyashoutoftheexhaustchamber.
Ashortpieceofhosecanbeattachedtotheendoftheutilityvacuumlineandcan
beusefulinreachingtheashwhichaccumulatesbetweentheclean‐outports.
