Onceallashhasbeenremovedfromtheexhaustchamber,reinstallthecleanout
portcovers,usingthescrewspreviouslyremoved.
Becertaintotightenthescrewsdowntosufficientlysealthecleanoutportcovers,
butdonot over‐tightenthem,asitispossibletodamagethescrew.
Venting
PipeCleaning
Lowspotsanddirectionchangesintheventingsystem(suchasteesandelbows)are
areasforpotentialfly‐ashandcreosoteaccumulation.INSPECTtheseareasdiligently
tokeeptheventingsysteminsafeoperatingcondition.
Dependingonthespecifictypeofventingsystemyourstoveisconnected
to,itmay
bepossibletoremovetheclean‐outteecoverandsimplyrunapipebrushupthe
pipetoremoveanyfly‐ashaccumulation.Brushesspecificallymadeforcleaning
pelletpipeareavailableattheretailerwhereyoubought thisstove,aswellasat
mosthearthproduct
dealers.
Horizontalrunsofpipe,suchasfromtheexhaustconnectiononthestovetothe
verticaltransition,willaccumulateflyashandshouldbeinspectedcarefullyand
brushedclean.
Checktheterminationcaptobecertainitisnotcloggedorrestrictedbyanyfly‐ash
accumulation.
Afterthoroughlycleaningtheventingsystem,re sealanydisassembledseamswith
hightemperaturesilicone(Part#AC‐RTV3)ifapplicabletoyourventingsystem.
Inspectseamsthatwerenotdisassembledtobecertainasmoke‐tightsealisstill
beingmade.
Afterprolongeduse,leaksintheventing
systemcanusuallybefoundbysearching
forfly‐ashdepositsontheoutsideofthepipe.Carefullycheckforleaksinthe
ventingsystemandsealthemaccordingly.
Althoughmostpelletventingsystemsaredesignedtolastalifetime,pelletfly‐ashcan
becorrosiveundercertainconditions.When
cleaningyourventingsystem,examinethe
pipecarefullyforanysignsofdeteriorationandreplacesectionsthatshowexcessive
wear.Itisunlikelythatthiswilleverbeaconcern,butmaintainingyourventingsystem
insafeoperatingconditioniscrucialtosafestoveoperation.
