The4H4284‐49DFE‐Goldmoduleprovides48portsthatsupport100Mbpsmultimode
fiber‐opticconnectivitythrough48fixedfront‐panelMT‐RJconnectors,whichsupport
100BASE‐FXfiber‐opticcabling.Thedeviceattheotherendofthefiber‐opticsegment
mustmeet100BASE‐FXFastEthernetnetworkrequirements
forthedevicestooperateat
100 Mbps.IEEE802.3u100BASE‐FXcharacteristicsforMultimodeFiberisasegment
lengthof412 meters(switchedport)inhalfduplex,2 k ilometers(switchedport)infull
duplex.Thisdistancewillbeconsiderablyshorterfromarepeaterport.Makesureto
checkyournetworkdiameterspecifications.

Note: The fixed ports of the module support Category 5 UTP cabling with an impedance
between 85 and 111 ohms for 100 Mbps operation.
The module is capable of operating at either 10 or 100 Mbps. The module automatically
senses the speed of the other device and adjusts its speed accordingly.
