Enabling and Adjusting Spanguard
UsethefollowingcommandstoconfiguredeviceportsforSpanguard,toenabletheSpanguard
function,andtoreviewSpanguardstatusonthedevice.
Reviewing and Setting Edge Port Status
Reviewandsetedgeportstatusasdescribedin“DefiningEdgePortStatusonpage 513 as
follows:
1. Reviewedgeportadministrativestatusonthedevice.
2. SetedgeportadministrativestatustofalseonallknownISLs.
3. SetedgeportadministrativestatustotrueonanyremainingportswhereSpanguard
protectionisdesired.ThisindicatestoSpanguardthattheseportsarenotexpectingtoreceive
anyBPDUs.If
theseportsdoreceiveBPDUs,theywillbecomelocked.
Enabling and Adjusting Spanguard
UsethecommandsinthissectiontoenableSpanguard,toreviewSpanguardstatus,asnecessary,
andtoadjustSpanguardparameters.
ToenableSpanguardonthedevice:
set spantree spanguard enable
UsethiscommandtoadjusttheSpanguardtimeoutvalue.Thissetsthelengthoftimethata
Spanguardaffectedportwillremainlocked:
set spantree spanguardtimeout timeout
Validvaluesare0‐65535seconds.Defaultis300second s.Settingthevalueto0willsetthe
timeouttoforever.
UsethiscommandtomanuallyunlockaportthatwaslockedbytheSpanguardfunction.This
overridesthespecifiedtimeoutvariable:
set spantree spanguardlock port-string
Reviewing Spanguard Status and Settings
UsethefollowingcommandstoreviewSpanguardstatusandsettings.
ToverifySpangu ardstatus:
show spantree spanguard
ToreviewthestatusoftheSpanguardlockfunctionononeormoreports:
show spantree spanguardlock [port port-string]
Ifnotspecified,statusforallportswillbedisplayed.
Note: In order to utilize the Spanguard function, you must know which ports are connected between
switches as ISLs (inter-switch links). Also, edge port status (adminedge = true or false) must be
configured on the entire switch, as described in “Defining Edge Port Status” on page 5-13, before
Spanguard will work properly.
