Laminator Setup
The laminating system applies a patch overlay to the card to provide additional protection against
wear.
Laminator Overlay Materials
The L1 and L2 laminators each can apply a patch overlay, which is a die-cut polyester shape.
Patch overlays have a registration mark that is used by the laminator to align the patch with the
beginning of the card. The registration mark is a rectangular hole between the patches.
Patches can cover the entire card, can have an opening for a smart card chip, or can cover the
card below the magnetic stripe. If both L1 and L2 laminators are installed, each laminator can
apply different overlay material. For example, you might apply a patch that covers the complete
card on the front, and a patch sized for a magnetic stripe on the back.
