74 Troubleshooting
The card has trapped
dust or debris.
Particles from the
retransfer process (flash)
can accumulate inside
the printer.
Clean the printer and printhead cam rollers.
Refer to the “Printer Cleaning Schedule” on
page 46 and “Clean the Printhead Cam
Rollers” on page 56.
Note: You may need to run multiple cleaning
cycles to remove all particles from the printer.
The card stock may have
embedded particles.
Check your cards for defects. Replace the card
stock, if necessary.
Retransfer material
appears on the magnetic
stripe, signature panel, or
smart card chip.
Blocking regions are not
set up correctly.
 Make sure that the blocking regions for
card features are set up properly. Use the
blocking regions in your card design
software, or define custom regions. Refer
to “Non-Printing Areas” in the printers
Installation and Administrators Guide and
“Escapes” in the XPS Card Printer Driver
Users Guide.
Note: The location and dimensions of the
blocking regions can vary depending on
the card stock you use.
 Clean the printer. Refer to the “Printer
Cleaning Schedule” on page 46.
