Gas -fi lled s urge arre s ters are classical components for
protecti ng the i n s tallati ons of the telecommuni cati ons.
It is e ssenti al that IT and telecommuni cati onssy s tems -
w i th thei r h i gh-grade but s ensit i ve electroni c c i rcu i t s - be
protected by arre s ters. They are thus f i tted at the i nput of
the power s upply s y s tem together w i th varistors and at
the connecti on poi nts to telecommuni cati on l i nes. They
have become equally i ndispens able for protecti ng bas e
s tati onsin mobi le telephone s y s tems a s well a s extensive
cable television (CATV) networks w i th thei r repeaters and
d istri buti on s y s tems.
Thes e protecti ve components are als o i ndispens able i n
other s ectors :

The i ntegral black -box concept offers graduated protec-
t i on by combi n i ng arre s ters w i th varistors , PTC thermis-
tors , d i odes and i nductors to create an i deal s oluti on for
many appli cati ons.
