To achi eve excellent res pons e characterist i c at fas t r ise
t i mesigni t i on a i d s has been attached to the cyli ndri cal
i nternal s urface of the i n s ulator. It s peeds up the gas
d ischarge by d istorti ng the electri c f i eld. EPCOS gas
arre s ters thus feature a fas t res pons e characterist i c w i th
h i gh reproduci b i l i ty. The electri cal characterist i c s of the
arre s ter, s uch a s DC s park -over voltage, puls ed and AC
d ischarge current handli ng capabi l i ty a s well a sit sservi ce
l i fe, can be opti m ized to the s peci f i c requi rements of
vari oussy s tems. This is achi eved by varyi ng the gas type
and pre ssure a s well a s the s paci ng of the electrodes and
the emission-promoti ng coati ng of the electrodes.
