Global environment management
W i th our global envi ronmental management i n accor-
dance w i th I S O 14001 we are protecti ng the envi ronment
to the s ame h i gh s tandard i n all parts of the world.
The s ame requi rements are placed on every EPCOSsi te;
external i n s t i tutes ens ure, at regular i ntervals , that they
are bei ng obs erved.
A s well a ssatisfyi ng both s tatutory
requi rements and thos e i mpos ed by
the relevant authori t i e s , our envi ron-
mental management s y s tem a
i m s to
uti l ize natural res ources eff i c i ently.
For that rea s on, we u s e our techno-
logi cal expertise to design and man-
ufacture our electroni c componentsin the mos t envi ron-
mentally compati ble way possible. We are conti nuous ly
opti m izing our products and processe sin order to u s e
materi alsin a way that m i n i m ize s the i mpact on
res ources , to u s e s ubs t i tutes for haz ardous materi als
wherever possible, and to reduce was te to a m i n i mum.

An obli gatory l ist of materi als and s ubs tances hasit s

and this guarantees that a consistent procedure is ap-
pli ed to all EPCOS products. We are, moreover, acti ve on
a large number of commi ttees , working groups and com-
m issions a ssoci ated w i th the electroni c sindus try, w i th the
a i m of pus h i ng forward the s tandard izati on of materi als
data s heets for electroni c components. The materi als
contai ned i n our products are l isted i n detai l on this kind
of materi al data s heet, s o that cus tomers , i n turn, can s at-
isfy the envi ronmental condi t i onsimpos ed upon them.

Substances in components regulated by law (RoHS)
Although components are not d i rectly covered by D i rec-
t
i ve 2002/95/EU (RoHS ), EPCOS obs erves this d i recti ve
on the basis of the current s tate of k nowledge. W i th due
considerat i on to the excepti ons defi ned i n the Annex to
2002/95/EU, all EPCOS products are free of:
– Cadmi um and cadmi um compounds
– Hexavalent chromi um
– Mercury and mercury compounds
– PBBs and PBDEs
– S urge arre s ters and s w i tchi ng s park gaps are free from
lead and lead compounds.

Obwohl Bauelemente n i cht d i rek t vom Geltungs bere i ch
der R i chtli n i e 2002/95/EU (RoHS ) betroffen sind, folgt
