Sending a Fax from a Computer
You can send faxes from the computer by using the FAX Utility and PC-FAX driver. See the help of FAX Utility and
PC-FAX driver for the operating instructions.

Receiving Faxes
You can set to print or save received documents from Setup > Fax Settings > Receive Settings > Fax Output. If
you print received documents, keep A4 size plain paper loaded in the paper cassette.

Receiving Faxes Automatically
While the receiving mode is set to automatic, the icon lights up on the home screen. e printer

Recommended for frequent fax users.
Keep A4-size plain paper loaded in the paper cassette to print received documents and reports.
e Fax Output setting allows you to prevent the printer from automatically printing received documents, and
save the documents in the printer's inbox, on a memory device, or on a computer instead.
Your answering machine answers a call

the number of rings set for the device. If it is a voice call, the
answering machine records a voice message. If the printer detects a fax tone aer the answering machine
answers the call, the printer starts to receive the fax.
If you pick up the handset of the connected phone device and you hear a fax tone, please wait. When the
message "Connecting..." is displayed on the LCD screen, hang up the handset.
Note:
Set the rings to answer setting on the printer to a higher number than the number of rings for the answering machine.
Otherwise, you cannot receive voice calls or the answering machine cannot record voice messages since the printer
answers before the answering machine answers.
To avoid noises at night or at other times, you can stop printing received documents during a set time period. By entering
the time to stop and time to restart in the following menu, documents received during the specied time period are not
printed, and are saved in the printer's memory instead.

Setup > Fax Settings > Print Settings > Print Suspend Time
If you use the printer for faxing only without connecting a telephone to the printer, you can set to receive faxes without
ringing. Select Setup > Printer Setup > Sound > Button Press > O.
