Using the LCD Screen 1 Displays the screen name 2 Displays network status; tap the icons to check the current status 3 Tap the arrows to display other features or menus You can also swipe the center of the screen to scroll up or down. To view a list of the icons and a description of their use, select Help > Icon List.
Adjusting Control Panel Position You can adjust the position of the control panel to make it easier to access. Raise or lower it to the desired angle as shown. Note: The control panel rises and the output tray slides out automatically when printing starts. 3. Scroll down and select Basic Setup. 4. Select Language. 5. Select a language. 6. Press the home button to exit. Turning Off Auto Selection Mode Auto Selection Mode changes the menu options on the LCD screen automatically depending on the action you perform. For instance, loading a memory card displays memory card-related menu options on the screen. You can turn off this feature from the control panel. 1. Press the home button, if necessary. 2. You can adjust the time period before sleep mode, but increasing the time reduces the product's energy efficiency.

You can use your smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Using Epson Email Print With Epson Email Print, you can print from any device that can send email, such as your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Just activate your product's unique email address. When you want to print, attach a PDF, Microsoft Office document, or photo to an email and send it to your product. 1. Set up your product for network printing. See the link below. 2. If you did not already set up Email Print when you installed your product software, visit epson.
Using Epson Remote Print With Epson Remote Print software, you can print to an Epson Email-enabled product anywhere in the world. 1. Set up your product for network printing. See the link below. 2. Visit epson.com/connect to learn more about Remote Print and how to download the software. 3. Download and install the Remote Print software. 4. Obtain the email address and optional access key of the Epson product you want to use for printing, and enter this address during Remote Print setup. 5.
Using AirPrint AirPrint enables instant wireless printing from iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with the latest version of iOS, and Mac with the latest version of OS X. Note: If you disabled paper configuration messages on your product control panel, you cannot use AirPrint. See the link below to enable the messages, if necessary. 1. Load paper in your product. 2. Set up your product for wireless printing. See the link below. 3. Connect your Apple device to the same wireless network that your product is using.
2. Print a network status sheet. 3. Locate your product's IP address on the network status sheet. 4. Enter the IP address into the address bar of a web browser. 5. Select the Google Cloud Print Services option. Note: If you don't see the Google Cloud Print Services option, turn your product off and back on. If the option still doesn't appear, select the Firmware Update option and follow the on-screen instructions to update your product. 6. Click Register. 7.
1. Turn on your Chromebook and connect it to the same wireless network as your product. Note: See your Chromebook's documentation for details on connecting to a network. 2. Do one of the following: • Click Add to Cloud Print in the notification that appears in the corner of your Chromebook screen. Note: If you do not see a notification, check to see if a number appears in the status area at the lower-right corner of the screen. Click this number to open the notifications menu, then click Add to Cloud Print.

The wireless router or access point can be connected to your computer over a wireless or wired network.

You see this screen: 5. Select Wi-Fi Setup Wizard. Note: If you need to disable the wireless network to set up your product on an Ethernet network, scroll down and select Disable Wi-Fi instead. Then follow the instructions on changing to a wired network connection in this guide. 6. Select the name of your wireless network or enter the name manually. Note: To enter the wireless network name manually, scroll down and then select Other Networks.
7. Enter your wireless password (or network name and then password) using the displayed keypad. Note: The network name and password are case sensitive. Be sure to correctly enter uppercase and lowercase letters, and numeric or special characters. • Press the touch screen buttons repeatedly to scroll through characters. • Press or to move the cursor. • Press 1 Symb. to enter symbols. • Press to delete the previous character. 8. Press Done when you finish entering your password. 9.

1 Epson product 2 Computer with a wireless interface 3 Other wireless device You can select one of these modes to communicate with your computer or device: Access point mode The product itself acts as the network access point for up to 4 devices. When operating in this mode, your product displays an AP connection symbol on the LCD screen. Peer-to-peer mode The product communicates one-to-one with another Wi-Fi Direct capable device.
You see this screen: 5. Select Connection Setup. 6. Select Change Password and select OK. Note: If you have already connected devices or computers to your product via Wi-Fi Direct, they will be disconnected when you change the password.
7. Enter your Wi-Fi Direct password. Note: Your password must be at least 8 and no more than 22 characters long. • Press the touch screen buttons repeatedly to scroll through characters. • Press or to move the cursor. • Press 1 Symb. to enter symbols. • Press to delete the previous character. 8. Press Done when you finish entering your password.
9. Scroll down to view the SSID (Wi-Fi network name) and password. 10. Use your computer or wireless device to select the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) displayed on the LCD screen, then enter the password shown. 11. Press the home button to exit. You see either an AP or Direct Wi-Fi symbol on the LCD screen and should be able to print directly to your product from your computer or device. Note: If the AP or Direct Wi-Fi symbol is not displayed on the LCD screen, Wi-Fi Direct mode is not enabled.

Wired Network Setup You can set up your product to communicate with your computer over a wired network by connecting it to the router or hub using an Ethernet cable.
Printing a Network Status Sheet You can print a network status sheet to help you determine the causes of any problems you may have using your product on a network. 1. Press the home button, if necessary. 2. Select Network. 3. Select See Connection Details. 4. Select Details. 5. Scroll down and select Print Status Sheet. 6. Press the Start button to print the network status sheet. (Select Cancel if you want to cancel the operation.
3. On a computer or other device connected to the same network as your product, open a web browser. 4. Enter your product's IP address into the address bar. Related tasks Disabling Wi-Fi Features Connecting to a New Wi-Fi Router If you change the wireless router you have been using on your network, you need to update your product's Wi-Fi connection to the new router. Note: If you switch to a 5 GHz wireless router, set the router to operate in dual band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) mode. See your router documentation for instructions. 1. Do one of the following: • Windows: Uninstall your product software. • OS X: Go to the next step. 2.

Loading Paper Before you print, load paper for the type of printing you will do.
2. Close the output tray by pressing the Output Tray button or by hand, if necessary. 3. Open the front cover and pull out the upper cassette. Note: If the upper cassette is too far inside to reach, turn the product off and on again. 4. Slide the edge guides outward.
5. Set the front edge guide to the position for the paper size you are using. 6. Insert paper with the glossy or printable side facedown. Note: Make sure the paper is loaded against the front edge guide and not overlapping the rear of the cassette. 7. Slide the side edge guides against the paper, but not too tightly. Note: Make sure the paper is under the tabs on the edge guides.
8. Keep the cassette flat as you insert it until the arrow marks on the tray and product line up. 9. If prompted by the product's LCD screen, select the size and type of the paper you loaded, and select Done. Note: The output tray opens automatically when you print. Always follow these paper loading guidelines: • Load only the recommended number of sheets. • Load paper short edge first and printable side down.
Loading Paper in Cassette 2 (Lower Cassette) You can load paper up to this size in the lower paper cassette: Legal (8.5 × 14 inches [216 × 356 mm]). Note: Do not remove or insert the paper cassette during printing. 1. Raise the control panel, if necessary. 2. Close the output tray by selecting Output Tray or by hand, if necessary.
3. Open the front cover and pull on it to remove the lower cassette. 4. Slide the edge guides outward. Note: If you are using legal-size paper, remove the CD/DVD tray from the bottom of the lower cassette. Press the button on the lower cassette and then extend it as shown.
5. Set the front edge guide to the paper size you are using. 6. Insert paper with the glossy or printable side facedown. Note: Make sure the paper is loaded against the edge guide and not sticking out from the end of the cassette.
7. Slide the side edge guides against the paper, but not too tightly. Note: Make sure the paper is under the tabs on the edge guides. 8. Keep the cassette flat as you insert it. 9. If prompted by the product's LCD screen, select the size and type of the paper you loaded, and select Done. Note: The output tray opens automatically when you print. Leave enough space in front of the product for the paper to be fully ejected.
Always follow these paper loading guidelines: • Load only the recommended number of sheets. • Load paper short edge first and printable side down. • Make sure the paper is under the tabs on the edge guides and not sticking out from the end of the cassette. • Check the paper package for any additional loading instructions.

6. Do one of the following: • Load a single sheet of paper or thick media, printable side up and short edge first, in the center of the rear paper feed slot. Push it approximately 2 inches (5 cm) into the slot. • Load an envelope, short edge first with the flap facing down and to the left, in the center of the rear paper feed slot. Push it approximately 2 inches (5 cm) into the slot.
• Load a sheet of loose-leaf or other paper with holes as shown, and push it approximately 2 inches (5 cm) into the slot. 7. Slide the edge guides against the paper or envelope, but not too tightly. 8. When you are ready to print, press the Start button. Note: The output tray opens automatically when you print. Leave enough space in front of the product for the paper to be fully ejected. Always follow these loading guidelines: • Load one sheet or envelope at a time.
Note: If ink smears when you print on thick paper, you can select the Thick Paper setting to improve print quality. Always follow these envelope loading guidelines: • If you have trouble loading a stack of envelopes, press each envelope flat before loading it or load one envelope at a time. • Do not load envelopes that are curled, folded, or too thin.

Placing Originals on the Product Follow the instructions here to place your original documents or photos on the product. Caution: Do not place anything on top of your product or use its cover as a writing surface to avoid damaging it. Placing Originals on the Scanner Glass Placing Originals in the Automatic Document Feeder Turning Off the Document Alert Placing Originals on the Scanner Glass You can place originals up to this size on the scanner glass: Letter (8.5 × 11 inches [216 × 279 mm]) or A4 (8.
2. Place your original facedown on the scanner glass with the top facing into the corner. Slide the original to the edges of the indicated corner. Note: You can place multiple originals on the scanner glass. Just make sure they are at least 0.8 inch (20 mm) away from each other. Note: The edges of your original may be cropped by 0.06 inch (1.5 mm) from the edge of the scanner glass.
Caution: Make sure your originals are not thermal transfer paper or carbon backed, creased or folded, are cut irregularly or not at a right angle, and do not contain holes, staples, tape, or other materials that could obstruct the feeder. 1. Open the ADF paper support and slide out the ADF output tray extension. 2. Slide the ADF edge guide outward.
3. Fan your stack of originals and tap them gently on a flat surface to even the edges. 4. Insert the originals into the ADF face-up and top-edge first. Then slide the edge guide against the originals, but not too tightly.
Note: If you're using the Letter, 2-up Copy or A4, 2-up Copy layout, make sure the originals are loaded as shown. Printing from a Computer Before printing from your computer, make sure you have set up your product and installed its software as described on the Start Here sheet. Note: If you have an Internet connection, it is a good idea to check for updates to your product software on Epson's support website. If you see a Software Update screen, select Enable automatic checking and click OK. The update scans your system to see if you have the latest product software. Follow the on-screen instructions.
3. If necessary, select your product name as the printer you want to use. Note: You may also need to select Properties or Preferences to view your print settings. You see the Main tab of your printer settings window: 4. For the Paper Source setting, select where you loaded the paper you want to print on. 5. Select the size of the paper you loaded as the Document Size setting.
6. If you are printing a borderless photo, select Borderless. You can click Settings to access additional options for borderless printing. Selecting Additional Layout and Print Options - Windows You can select a variety of additional layout and printing options for your document or photo on the More Options tab. 1. To change the size of your printed document or photo, select the Reduce/Enlarge Document checkbox and select one of these sizing options: • Select the Fit to Page option to size your image to fit the paper you loaded.
• Select Custom and click the Advanced button to manually adjust the color correction settings or turn off color management in your printer software. • Select Image Options to access additional settings for improving printed images. Note: You can also select Color Universal Print settings. 3. To add the following features, click the Watermark Features button: • Watermark: adds a visible watermark to your printout.
Custom Color Correction Options - Windows You can select any of the available options in the Color Correction window to customize the image colors for your print job. Color Controls Lets you select a Color Mode setting, individual settings for Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, and Density, and individual color tones. Depending on the selected color mode, you can also adjust the midtone density using the Gamma setting. Fix Photo Improves the color, contrast, and sharpness of flawed photos.
ICM Lets you manage color using installed color printing profiles. No Color Adjustment Turns off color management in your printer software so you can manage color using only your application software. Separator Page Before each document, prints a separator page containing the title, user, date, and time. Always Spool RAW Datatype Increases print speed and may solve other printing problems. Page Rendering Mode Increases print speed when printing is extremely slow or the print head stops during printing. Print as Bitmap Increases print speed when printing is extremely slow or the print head stops during printing, and other settings do not help.

If you will enlarge the image using Epson Scan's Target Size setting, you do not need to increase the Resolution setting. • You will scan the image at its original size but enlarge it later in an image-editing program. Increase Epson Scan's Resolution setting in your scan. Increase the resolution by the same amount you will increase the image size to retain a high image quality.
Selecting Scan File Settings You can select the location, name, and format of your scan file on the File Save Settings window. You can also select various optional settings that control how Epson Scan behaves when you scan and save files. The File Save Settings window may appear after you click Scan on the Epson Scan window. You may also be able to access the window by clicking the icon on the Epson Scan window. 1.
• Click the Other button, click the Browse or Choose button, and select a folder. 2. Type in a file name in the Prefix field. This name is used along with numbers to automatically name your scanned files. 3. Select a different number as the Start Number setting, if you like. 4. Select the file format you want to use in the Image Format Type menu. 5. If your file format provides optional settings, click the Options button to select them. 6.

Faxing See these sections to fax using your product. Note: This product allows you to store names, telephone numbers, and fax data in its memory even when the power is turned off. Make sure you restore all of the default settings if you give away or dispose of the product. This will erase all of your network settings and fax data.
Note: If you have a DSL or ISDN connection, you must connect the appropriate DSL filter, or ISDN terminal adapter or router to the wall jack to be able to use the line for faxing or voice calls using your product. Contact your DSL or ISDN provider for the necessary equipment.

Printing on CDs/DVDs Follow the instructions here to print a design onto ink jet-printable CDs or DVDs to create a custom label.
Note: If you are using discs where the printable area extends to within 0.16 inch (4 mm) of the center hole, you may need to adjust the inner diameter setting using the control panel or Epson Print CD software. 1. Burn your files, music, or video onto your disc before printing on it. 2. Send your file from your computer or from your product's control panel. 3. When you see a message that the product is preparing for CD loading, follow the instructions to load a CD. 4. Raise the control panel all the way up.
7. Remove the CD/DVD tray from the bottom of the product. 8. Place a CD or DVD on the CD/DVD tray with the printable side faceup.
9. Insert the tray into the slot above the output tray as shown. Note: Make sure the marks on the tray and the marks on the product line up. 10. Select Ready and select OK. Note: The CD/DVD tray ejects automatically after a certain period of time. Caution: Do not turn off the product with a CD or DVD loaded in it. Always remove the disc first. 1. Remove the CD/DVD tray from the product and remove your disc from the tray. 2. Select OK. 3. Insert the CD/DVD tray into the storage slot on the bottom of the product. After printing, handle the CD or DVD carefully. You may need to wait up to 24 hours for the ink to dry fully before inserting it in a drive, depending on the type of disc you used. Keep printed discs away from moisture and direct sunlight.
Placing a CD/DVD on the Scanner Glass You can place a CD or DVD on the scanner glass and copy the label design onto another CD or DVD. 1. Open the document cover. 2. You must install new cartridges immediately after removing the old ones. Caution: Leave your old cartridges in the printer until you are ready to replace them to prevent the print head nozzles from drying out.
3. Lift up the scanner unit. Caution: Do not move the print head by hand; otherwise, you may damage your product. Do not touch the flat white cable inside the printer. 4. Push in the blue tab to unlock the ink cartridge you are replacing. Then lift the bottom of the ink cartridge to remove it.
Warning: If ink gets on your skin, wash it thoroughly with soap and water. If ink gets into your eyes, flush them immediately with water. If ink gets into your mouth, spit it out and see a doctor right away. Keep ink cartridges out of the reach of children. 5. Recap the used ink cartridge using the cap that came with it. Note: Dispose of used cartridges carefully. Do not take the used cartridge apart or try to refill it. 6.
7. Remove the cartridge from the package. Caution: Do not touch the areas shown above. Doing so may prevent normal operation and printing. 8. Remove the cap from the cartridge and save it so you can recap the ink cartridges before storing or disposing of them. Caution: Do not remove any other labels or seals, or ink will leak.
9. Insert the ink cartridge head first into the ink cartridge holder. Then press the bottom of the ink cartridge down until it clicks into place. 10. Once you replace all the cartridges that need replacing, close the scanner unit. The product starts charging the ink. This takes a few minutes. When you see a completion message on the LCD screen, ink replacement is complete.
Note: Do not turn off the product while it is charging or you will waste ink. If you see an error screen telling you an ink cartridge is installed incorrectly, lift up the scanner unit and press the ink cartridge down until it clicks into place. When you're finished, close the scanner unit. If you remove a low or expended ink cartridge, you cannot re-install and use the cartridge.

Conserving Low Black Ink with Windows The following window appears when black ink runs low and there is more color ink. Note: The window appears only when you have selected Plain Paper/Bright White Paper as the paper type setting, and depends on other selected print settings. To use this feature, Epson Status Monitor must be enabled. • Click Yes to use a mixture of color inks to create black, or No to continue using the remaining black ink for the document you are printing.
Adjusting Print Quality If your print quality declines, you may need to run a utility to clean or align the print head. If running these utilities does not solve the problem, you may need to replace the ink cartridges. Cleaning the Paper Path If you see ink on the back of a printout, you can clean the paper path to remove any excess ink. Caution: Do not use tissues to clean the rollers inside the product; lint from tissue may clog the print head nozzles. 1. Load a few sheets of plain paper in the product. 2. Use the product control panel to make a copy, but without placing a document on the scanner glass. Note: Make sure there is no dust or stains on the scanner glass or document cover. 3.
Cleaning and Transporting Your Product See these sections if you need to clean or transport your product. Cleaning Your Product Transporting Your Product Cleaning Your Product To keep your product working at its best, you should clean it several times a year. Close the output tray and front cover when you are not using the product to protect it from dust. Caution: Do not use a hard brush, alcohol, or paint thinner to clean the product or you may damage it.
5. Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth (microfiber is recommended) to clean the rollers and the interior of the ADF. 6. Close the ADF cover. 7. Open the document cover.
8. Clean the scanner glass and the glass area on the left with a soft, lint-free cloth (microfiber is recommended), moistened with a little glass cleaner. Caution: Do not spray glass cleaner directly on the glass and do not press the glass surface with any force.
9. Press the tabs and remove the document mat. 10. Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth (microfiber is recommended) to clean the transparent part on the underside of the document mat. 11. Replace the document mat by reversing the steps to remove it. Close the document cover. 12. Clean the outer case and control panel with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid or chemical cleansers.
Transporting Your Product If you need to store your product or transport it a long distance, prepare it for transportation as described here. Caution: During transportation and storage, follow these guidelines: • Avoid tilting the product, placing it vertically, or turning it upside down; otherwise ink may leak. • Leave the ink cartridges installed. Removing the cartridges can dry out the print head and may prevent the product from printing.
Caution: Do not place tape on the white flat cable inside the product; otherwise, you may damage your product. 4. Lower the scanner unit. 5. Remove all the paper from the product. 6. • If your router or access point has security enabled, determine the kind of security it is using and any required password or passphrase for connection. Then make sure to enter the exact WEP key or WPA passphrase correctly. • Check if your computer is restricting the available wireless channels. If so, verify that your wireless access point is using one of the usable channels and change to a usable channel, if necessary.

Cancel the print job, if necessary. 2. Remove your originals from the ADF. 3. Open the ADF cover, then carefully remove any jammed paper. Caution: Make sure you open the ADF cover before removing any jammed paper. Otherwise the product may be damaged.
4. Leave the ADF cover open, then raise the scanner unit. 5. Press the tabs and remove the document mat.
6. Carefully remove any jammed paper. 7. Reattach the document mat, lower the scanner unit, and close the ADF cover. 8. Open the ADF input tray as shown.
9. Carefully remove any jammed paper from beneath the ADF input tray. 10. Close the ADF input tray. 11. Reload your originals. Caution: Do not load the ADF beyond its capacity for your paper size. Also make sure your originals are not bent, folded, or curled and do not have tape, staples, or other materials that could obstruct the feeder. 12. Follow the prompts on the LCD screen to clear any error messages. If you still see a paper jam message, check the other paper jam solutions.

CD/DVD Jam Problems If a CD/DVD has jammed in the product and an error message is displayed, follow these steps to remove the CD/DVD tray: 1. Cancel the print job from your computer, if necessary. 2. Slowly pull the CD/DVD tray out of the product. 3. Clear the error message. 4. If an error is still displayed, turn off the product, then turn it back on. 5. If you are unable to remove the CD/DVD tray, contact Epson for support.
• Handle printed discs carefully and let them dry for 24 hours before inserting them in a drive. • Adjust the print quality using the Epson Print CD software. If you still cannot send a fax, turn off the turn off the product's dial tone detection setting.
Cannot Receive Faxes with a Telephone Connected to Your Product If you cannot receive faxes when a telephone is connected to your product, try these solutions: • Make sure your telephone is connected to your product's EXT port. • Make sure the Receive Mode is set to Manual. Note: When answering a call that is a fax, wait until the product's LCD screen displays a message that a connection has been made before you hang up.
