Your Ink Tank System You should visually check the ink levels in the product's ink tanks regularly. For optimum printing results, refill the ink tanks to the upper line at least once a year. Note: The product has a low ink alert system. The accuracy of this system depends on the user refilling the ink tanks correctly. The product cannot directly measure the ink levels in the tanks; instead it estimates the amount of ink remaining by internally monitoring ink usage.

You can adjust the time period before power management begins, but increasing the time reduces the product's energy efficiency.
Changing the Power Off Timer Setting from the Control Panel You can use the product's control panel to change the time period before the printer turns off automatically. 1. Press the home button, if necessary. 2. Press the arrow buttons to select Settings and press the OK button. 3. Select Printer Setup and press the OK button. 4. Using Epson Email Print With Epson Email Print, you can print from any device that can send email, such as your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Just activate your product's unique email address. From your Amazon application, tap the print option and select your product to print whatever is on the screen. Using Epson Print and Scan App with Windows Tablets You can use this free app to print photos and scan from your Windows (Windows 8 or higher) Surface RT or Pro tablet with networked Epson products. Epson Print and Scan App allows you to scan and capture images right to your tablet or to Microsoft OneDrive. Note: The Epson Print and Scan App does not support Windows 10 Mobile printing. 1. Wi-Fi Infrastructure Mode Setup You can set up your product to communicate with your computer using a wireless router or access point. The wireless router or access point can be connected to your computer over a wireless or wired network.
Selecting Wireless Network Settings from the Control Panel You can select or change wireless network settings using your product control panel. To install your product on a wireless network, follow the instructions on the Start Here sheet and install the necessary software. The installer program guides you through network setup. 1. Press the home button, if necessary. 2. Press the arrow buttons to select Wi-Fi Setup and press the OK button. 3. Press the OK button to select Wi-Fi (Recommended). 4.
7. Enter your wireless password (or network name and then password). • Press the arrow buttons to highlight a character or a function button displayed on the keypad. Then press the OK button to select it. • To change the case of letters or select symbols, select AB12 (uppercase), ab12 (lowercase), or Symbol and press the OK button. Then highlight a number or symbol and press the OK button to select it. • To enter a space, select Space and press the OK button.
Wi-Fi Direct Mode Setup You can set up your product to communicate directly with your computer or another device without requiring a wireless router or access point. 1 Epson product 2 Computer with a wireless interface 3 Other wireless device Your product enters access point mode and the product itself acts as the network access point for up to 4 devices. When operating in this mode, your product displays the Wi-Fi Direct connection symbol on the LCD screen.
3. Press the arrow buttons to select Wi-Fi Direct and press the OK button. 4. Press the OK button. 5. Press the OK button again. 6. Press the OK button to confirm the Wi-Fi settings. You see the connection symbol on the LCD screen and should be able to connect to your product directly from your computer or device, and then print.
Changing the Wi-Fi Direct Mode Password You can change the Wi-Fi Direct Mode password from the product's control panel. 1. Press the home button, if necessary. 2. Press the arrow buttons to select Wi-Fi Setup and press the OK button. 3. Press the arrow buttons to select Wi-Fi Direct and press the OK button. 4. Press the OK button. 5. Press the OK button again. 6. Press the right arrow button to select Modify.
• To change the case of letters or select symbols, select AB12 (uppercase), ab12 (lowercase), or Symbol and press the OK button. Then highlight a number or symbol and press the OK button to select it. • To enter a space, select Space and press the OK button. • To delete characters, select the back arrow and press the OK button. • When you finish entering characters, select Done and press the OK button. 9. On the product, press the home button, if necessary. 2. Press the arrow buttons to select Settings and press the OK button. 3. Select Network Settings and press the OK button. 4. Select Wi-Fi Setup and press the OK button. 5. Select Push Button Setup (WPS) and press the OK button. 6.

Disabling Wi-Fi Features Parent topic: Wi-Fi or Wired Networking Accessing the Web Config Utility You can select your product's network settings and confirm its operating status using a web browser. You do this by accessing your product's built-in Web Config utility from a computer or other device that is connected to the same network as your product. 1. Print a network status sheet. 2. Locate the IP address for your product that is listed on the network status sheet. 3.
2. Connect one end of an Ethernet network cable to the product's LAN port. 3. Connect the other end to any available LAN port on your router or access point. 4. Uninstall your product software. 5. Download and install your product software from the Epson website. 6. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software. 7. When you see the Select Your Connection screen, select Wired network connection. 8. If you see a Select Setup Option screen, select Set up printer for the first time. 9.
Note: Before disabling Wi-Fi features, make a note of your product's SSID (network name) and password, and any network settings selected for the Epson Connect services you may use. 1. Press the home button, if necessary. 2. Press the arrow buttons to select Settings and press the OK button. 3. Select Network Settings and press the OK button. 4. Select Wi-Fi Setup and press the OK button. You see this screen: 5. Select Disable Wi-Fi and press the OK button. 6.
Loading Paper Before you print, load paper for the type of printing you will do.
Note: As you slide in the output tray, there may be slight resistance and noise. This is normal. 2. Raise the control panel. 3. Open the front cover.
4. Pull out the upper paper cassette. The upper cassette is labeled as shown. Note: If the cassette is too far inside the product to reach, turn off your product and turn it back on again to reset the cassette's position. 5. Slide the edge guides outward. 6. Set the front edge guide to the position for the paper size you are using.
7. Insert paper in the cassette with the glossy or printable side facedown. Note: Make sure the paper is loaded against the front edge guide and does not extend beyond the triangle symbol at the rear of the cassette. 8. Slide the side edge guides against the paper, but not too tightly.
Note: Make sure the paper fits under the tabs on the edge guides. 9. Keeping the cassette flat, insert it into your product until the arrow marks on the tray and product line up. 10. Lower the control panel and pull out the output tray.
11. Select the size and type of paper you just loaded on the product LCD screen. Always follow these paper loading guidelines: • Load only the recommended number of sheets. • Load paper short edge first and printable side facedown. • Make sure the paper is under the tabs on the edge guides and not sticking out from the end of the cassette. • Check the paper package for any additional loading instructions.
2. Raise the control panel. 3. Open the front cover. 4. Pull on the front cover to pull out the lower paper cassette.
5. Slide the edge guides outward. 6. Set the front edge guide to the paper size you are using. 7. Do one of the following: • Insert paper with the glossy or printable side face down.
• Insert up to 10 envelopes, printable side down and flap edge left, as shown. • For legal-size paper, remove the CD/DVD tray from the product. Press the button on the cassette and extend it as shown. Load paper with the glossy or printable side facedown. Note: Make sure the paper is loaded against the front edge guide and does not extend beyond the triangle symbol at the rear of the cassette.
8. Slide the side edge guides against the paper, but not too tightly. Note: Make sure the paper fits under the tabs on the edge guides. 9. Keep the cassette flat as you insert it into your product. Note: Leave enough space in front of the product for the paper to be fully ejected.
10. Lower the control panel and pull out the output tray. 11. Select the size and type of paper you just loaded on the product LCD screen. Always follow these paper loading guidelines: • Load only the recommended number of sheets. • Load paper short edge first and printable side down. • Make sure the paper is under the tabs on the edge guides and not sticking out from the end of the cassette.
1. Send your print job before loading paper into the rear paper feed slot. Make sure you select Rear Paper Feed Slot as the Paper Source setting on your computer. 2. Raise the control panel. 3. Open the front cover. 4. Pull out the output tray and lower the control panel.
5. After the print job has been sent to the product, a message appears on the LCD screen prompting you to load paper. Follow the on-screen instructions or continue with the next step. 6. Open the rear paper feed slot. 7. Raise the paper support.
8. Slide out the edge guides. 9. Do one of the following: • Load one sheet of paper with the printable side faceup about 2 inches (5 cm) into the slot. • Load one envelope short edge first, with the flap facing down and the flap edge to the left.
10. Slide the edge guides against the paper or envelope, but not too tightly. 11. Press the start button to start printing. Always follow these paper loading guidelines: • Load only one sheet or one envelope at a time. • Load paper short edge first, no matter which way your document faces. • Load the printable side faceup. • Load letterhead or pre-printed paper top edge first. • Check the paper package for any additional loading instructions.

Placing Originals on the Product Follow the instructions here to place your original documents or photos on the product. Caution: Do not place anything on top of your product or use its cover as a writing surface to avoid damaging it. Printing from a Computer Before printing from your computer, make sure you have set up your product and installed its software as described on the Start Here sheet. Note: If you have an Internet connection, it is a good idea to check for updates to your product software on Epson's support website. If you see a Software Update screen, select Enable automatic checking and click OK. The update scans your system to see if you have the latest product software. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Printing on CDs/DVDs Follow the instructions in this section to print a design onto ink jet-printable CDs or DVDs to create a custom label.
Caution: Do not insert the CD/DVD tray while the product is printing, copying, or performing other operations. Otherwise, your product may be damaged or the surface of the CD/DVD may become dirty or scratched. Note: If you are using discs where the printable area extends to within 0.16 inch (4 mm) of the center hole, you may need to adjust the inner diameter setting using the control panel or Epson Print CD software. 1. Burn your files, music, or video onto your disc before printing on it. 2.
7. Close the front cover. 8. Remove the CD/DVD tray from the bottom of the product. 9. Place a CD or DVD on the CD/DVD tray with the printable side faceup, and insert the tray into the slot above the output tray. Note: Make sure the marks on the tray and the 175 marks on the product line up.

Refilling Ink When the ink level is below the lower line on an ink tank, you need to refill it. You can continue to use the product even if one or more ink tanks are not filled all the way. However, for the most accurate ink level monitoring, fill all the ink tanks up to the top line. Note: The product has a low ink alert system. The accuracy of this system depends on the user refilling the ink tanks correctly. The product cannot directly measure the ink levels in the tanks; instead it estimates the amount of ink remaining by internally monitoring ink usage.
3. Open the ink tank cover, then open the cap for the ink tank you are going to fill. 4. Hold the ink bottle upright and slowly turn the bottle cap to remove it. Caution: Do not shake or squeeze the bottle. Do not touch the top of the bottle after its cap is removed. Warning: If ink gets on your skin, wash it thoroughly with soap and water. If ink gets into your eyes, flush them immediately with water. If ink gets into your mouth, spit it out immediately. Seek medical advice if problems persist.
5. Position the top of the ink bottle along the slot in front of the filling port, then slowly stand the bottle up to insert it. Note: Refer to the color-coded sticker on the ink tank unit to identify the color of each tank. Do not force the bottles into position; they are keyed for each color.
6. Wait for the ink to fill the tank. Do not squeeze the bottle. Ink flows into the tank and stops automatically when the ink is filled to the upper line. Note: If ink does not flow from the bottle, lift and reinsert the bottle.
7. When the ink tank is full, remove the ink bottle and securely close the ink tank cap. Note: If any ink remains in the bottle, replace the bottle cap and tighten it. Store the bottle upright for later use. 8. Repeat the previous steps as necessary for each ink tank you need to refill. 9. Close the ink tank cover, then close the scanner unit. 10. Press the OK button on the product control panel to proceed. Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the ink level for the color you refilled.
Replacing the Maintenance Box Make sure you have a new maintenance box before you begin. Caution: Do not reuse a maintenance box that has been removed and left uninstalled for more than a week. Keep the maintenance box away from direct sunlight. 1. Remove the new maintenance box from its package. Caution: Do not touch the green chip on the maintenance box. Doing so may prevent normal operation and printing. 2.
Note: Do not tilt the used maintenance box or take it apart. Caution: Do not touch the areas shown below on the maintenance box; otherwise, ink may leak. Warning: If ink gets on your skin, wash it thoroughly with soap and water. If ink gets into your eyes, flush them immediately with water. If ink gets into your mouth, spit it out immediately. Keep the maintenance box out of the reach of children and do not drink the ink. 4.

Adjusting Print Quality If your print quality declines, you may need to run a utility to clean or align the print head. If running these utilities does not solve the problem, you may need to run a Power Cleaning or clean the paper or printer head path.

Close the output tray, front cover, and rear paper feed cover when you are not using the product to protect it from dust. Caution: Do not use a hard brush, alcohol, or paint thinner to clean the product or you may damage it.
Caution: During transportation and storage, follow these guidelines: • Avoid tilting the product, placing it vertically, or turning it upside down; otherwise ink may leak. • When storing or transporting an opened ink bottle, do not tilt the bottle and do not subject it to impacts or temperature changes. Otherwise, ink may leak even if the cap on the ink bottle is tightened securely.
5. Lift up the scanner unit and check to see if the print head is in the far right position (the home position). If not, turn on the product, wait for the print head to move to the far right, then turn the product off again. 6. Secure the print head to the case with tape.
Caution: Do not place tape on the white flat cable inside the product; otherwise, you may damage your product. 7. Open the ink tank cover. Make sure the ink tap caps are securely closed and close the ink tank cover. 8. Lower the scanner unit.
9. Close the rear paper feed support and rear paper feed cover. Close the output tray and the front cover, then lower the control panel. 10. Place the product in its original packaging materials, if possible, or use equivalent cushioning around the product. Be sure to remove the tape from the print head before turning on your product. If print quality has declined when you print again, clean and align the print head.
