Precautions When Using the Wireless LAN Unit Note the following points when the supplied or optional Wireless LAN unit is installed in the projector and used. To help you use the product safely and correctly, symbols are applied in the User's Guide and on the product to indicate possible harm to the user or to others and the risk of damage to property. The indications and their meaning are as follows. Make sure you understand them properly before reading the guide.
Precautions When Using the Wireless LAN Unit • Removing the label of conformance • IEEE 802.11a (5 GHz band) external use Precautions Regarding International Travel Wireless devices are designed to conform to the channel and frequency limits of the intended country of use. This unit is based on the specifications of the country of sale. If this unit is used outside the country of sale, check with a local dealer for more information.
Precautions When Using the Wireless LAN Unit However, you are unlikely to be able to make an ad hoc connection for wireless LAN equipment used with a computer in IEEE 802.11g. For more details on wireless LAN equipment see the specifications. Making Effective Use of Your Projector This chapter provides information on functions that allow you to use your projector more effectively.
Effective Functions for Projector Use This projector is equipped with many useful functions to improve usability. As well as a computer cable, you can connect using various other interfaces such as a USB cable, a USB storage device, or a LAN connection. This allows for a wide range of image input sources depending on your usage environment.
Effective Functions for Projector Use Projecting directly from saved files on a USB device (PC Free) By connecting a USB memory or a digital camera compatible with USB mass storage devices to the projector, you can directly project images, movies, and scenarios stored on the USB device.s p.53 Connect a USB Cable to Your Computer and Project Images from the Computer Screen (USB Display) By simply using the supplied USB cable to connect to a Windows computer, you can project images from the computer.
Installing the Software 12 You can find the software for using the projector effectively on the supplied "EPSON Projector Software for Meeting & Presentation" CD-ROM. Install the software on the computer you are using. • When using the following OS, you must have administrator authority to install EasyMP Network Projection. • Windows 2000 • Windows XP • Windows Vista The PC Free and USB Display functions are already built-in to the projector.
Installing the Software q • For EMP NS Connection users The EMP NS Connection name has changed. Before: EMP NS Connection _After: EasyMP Network Projection When using the same function as EMP NS Connection on the projector, install EasyMP Network Projection after uninstalling EMP NS Connection.You cannot connect to the projector correctly using EMP NS Connection. • For EMP Monitor users The EMP Monitor name has changed.
Installing the Software q • When installation does not start automatically (Windows only) Select Start - Run, and in the Run dialog box, type the letter for your CD-ROM drive followed by :\EPsetup.exe and then click OK. • Uninstalling For Windows Select Start - Settings - Control Panel - Add-Remove Programs or Add or Remove Programs and then remove EasyMP Network Projection. For Macintosh From Applications, delete the EasyMP Network Projection folder.
Connecting with EasyMP Network Projection This chapter explains how to connect the computer and the projector via a network, and the procedure for projecting images from your computer's screen with the projector.
EasyMP Network Projection Summary There are two methods of connecting a computer and the projector via a network by using EasyMP Network Projection. 16 Quick Connection Mode temporarily assigns the projector's SSID to a computer creating an ad hocg connection, and restores the computer's network settings after disconnecting.s p.
EasyMP Network Projection Summary • Multi-screen display s p.29 You can project different images from up to four projectors from one computer, allowing you to project landscape images such as spreadsheets and so on as one continuous image. 17 • Switching function By using the meeting switching function, if EasyMP Network Projection is installed on all of the computers, the presenters can take turns and project their own images without changing cables.
Preparing to Connect Use the following procedure to prepare the computer and the projector for connection. Preparing the Computer For Windows Make network settings for the computer by using the utility software supplied with the LAN adapter. For more information on the utility software, see the User's Guide supplied with your LAN adapter. For example, as shown in the following illustration, when a red cross (^) is displayed over the network icon on the taskbar, you cannot connect to the projector.

Make sure the projector network settings are complete, and the projector is connected to network equipment such as a network hub via a commercially available network cable. 19 Procedure A Start EasyMP Network Projection. To stop the audio, or to display a User's Logo while projection is stopped, use A/V Mute. Show Releases Stop or Pause. Pause Pauses projected images while connecting to the projector. Audio does not Pause. 23 The Source alternates between S-Video, Video, and HDMI each time you click.S-Video does not switch if the cable is not connected.

EasyMP Network Projection Useful Functions This chapter explains those functions that may be useful during meetings or when making a presentation, such as the ability to send a movie file directly to a projector for playback (Movie Sending Mode) or that which allows you to send images to multiple projectors from a single computer (Multi-Screen Display).
Projecting Only a PowerPoint Slide Show (Presentation Mode) In Presentation Mode, the images are only displayed when performing a PowerPoint Slide Show on a computer.When you stop Slide Show, the projector displays a black screen. This is useful when you only want to display the Slide Show. In addition to PowerPoint, Keynote is compatible with Presentation Mode for Macintosh. Procedure A If necessary, select another projector to be controlled. s p.22 B Click the button on the toolbar.
Projecting Movies from a Computer (Movie Sending Mode) In Movie Sending Mode, movie files can be sent directly to a projector. As a result, a movie can be projected much more smoothly than when it is being sent from an application running on a PC. Also, because the audio is sent at the same time as the movie, there is no need for an audio cable between the computer and the projector. You can set to play back selected multiple files repeatedly and in order.
Projecting Movies from a Computer (Movie Sending Mode) 28 Back Plays back from the beginning of the file that is playing. Next Plays back from the beginning of the next file. Repeat Repeatedly plays back the file list in order. When there are multiple files in the list, it is not possible to repeatedly play back only some of those files. F Click "Close" to end Movie Sending Mode. The Movie Sending Mode screen reappears. The selected files are displayed in the Movie file list.
Using Multi-Screen Display 29 Multi-screen display mode allows you to project different images from multiple projectors that are connected to a single computer. With Windows, multiple virtual displayg drivers can be set in the computer, and each image can be projected by the projector. This function is not available with Windows Vista due to restrictions in the Windows Vista specifications. For Macintosh, an external monitor must be connected to the computer to enable this function.
Using Multi-Screen Display 30 Example of Adjusting the Virtual Display Arrangement example 2 By arranging the virtual displayg allocation, you can project only the image that you want to show or project different images from left to right in a presentation.
Using Multi-Screen Display Open the file to be projected, and then move the screen to the virtual display according to the actual projection arrangement. 3. Projecting the allocated images s p.35 Allocate a virtual display number to a projector that is connected through the network, and then start projection. 31 C Click "OK". Setting the Virtual Display This section explains the virtual display for arrangement example 1. s p.
Using Multi-Screen Display 32 Procedure For Windows A Select "Start" - "Programs" (or "All Programs") - "EPSON Projector" - "EasyMP Network Projection" to start EasyMP Network Projection. B Select the "Use multi-display" check box. The Display Properties screen is displayed. D Click the "Settings" tab. Display layout and Display properties are added at the bottom of the screen. C Click "Display properties".
Using Multi-Screen Display E Drag the displayed monitor icon and place it where desired. Here, the actual monitor (1) is placed on the left, while the virtual monitor (3) is placed on the right. When the computer has multiple display output terminals, the numbers assigned to the virtual terminals will be sequential to those of the physical terminals. 33 q • When an external monitor is connected as a secondary monitor, the image for that screen cannot be projected.
Using Multi-Screen Display 34 Display layout and Display preferences are added at the bottom of the screen. C Click "Display preferences". The display setting screen is displayed. D Click "Arrangement". E Clear "Mirror Displays". F Drag the displayed monitor icon and place it where desired.

Up to this point, the screen layout has been fixed. Procedure A Select the number of the virtual displayg to allocate on the "Display", and set which image to be projected from which projector. Using Multi-Screen Display 36 To perform mouse-based operations on the virtual display, move the mouse pointer in the direction of the virtual display, such that the pointer appears on the virtual display. C To terminate multi-screen display, click "Disconnect" on the toolbar. q The image allocated to each projector is projected. In a Windows environment, you cannot view the image being sent to a virtual display on the computer.
Connecting to a Projector on a Different Sub-net This chapter explains how to connect a computer to a projector on a different sub-net via a Wired LAN or a wireless LAN access point on an existing network system.
Connecting to a Projector on a Different Subnet By default, this application only searches for projectors on the same subnet as the computer. Therefore, even if you perform a search for projectors on the network, projectors on a different subnet will not be found. You can, however, identify and connect to a projector on a different subnet as follows: • Specify either an IP address or Projector name and perform a search. The IP Address can be input directly.
Searching by Specifying the IP Address and Projector name (For Advanced Connection Mode only) In the following explanations, unless otherwise noted, Windows screen shots are used. You see the similar screens even when using Macintosh. Procedure A Click "Manual search" on the EasyMP Network Projection Select a projector screen. Click "Manual search". B Enter the IP address or the Projector name for the projector you want to connect to, and click "OK".
Performing a Search with a Profile You can save a search for a frequently used projector as a Profile. A Profile is a file containing all of the information pertaining to a given projector, such as the Projector name, its IP address, and SSID. By specifying the profile each time you perform a search, there is no need to enter the IP Address or Projector name.
Performing a Search with a Profile Profile, the following screens are displayed. After entering the Profile name and selecting the Save in destination, click Add. For Windows 41 Procedure A Click "Profile" on the EasyMP Network Projection projector selection screen. If no Profile is registered, you cannot select Profile. For Macintosh B From the menu that is displayed, select the projector you want to connect to. q For details on how to create a folder for a Profile, see the following section.s p.
Performing a Search with a Profile 42 Managing a Profile You can change the name and the hierarchical structure of the Profile. Procedure A Click "Set options" on the EasyMP Network Projection main screen. The Set options screen is displayed. B Click "Edit profile". A :Indicates a folder. B :Indicates a Profile. Profile Item Profile You can display the registered Profile. You can manage it by creating a folder.You can change the order of the Profile or the folder by dragging & dropping.
Performing a Search with a Profile 43 Profile Item Function Rename You can display the Rename dialog box and rename the folder or the Profile.You can enter up to 32 characters in the Rename dialog box. Create folder You can create a new folder. Export You can Export a Profile, as well as Import and use a Profile. Import Used when you want to read and use an exported Profile.
Setting the EasyMP Network Projection Operation You can make setting options such as the processing method when EasyMP Network Projection starts.
Using Set options You can make setting options such as the processing method when EasyMP Network Projection starts. Call Set options from the EasyMP Network Projection main screen. 45 General settings tab Procedure A Click "Set options" on the EasyMP Network Projection main screen. The Set options screen is displayed. B Set each of the items. Confirm the details of the set items in the next step. When you have made all the necessary settings, click OK to close the Set options screen.

Using Set options q When you click 47 on the toolbar, only the Adjust performance tab is displayed. Audio Output tab Output audio from the projector Set whether or not to transfer the computer’s audio to the projector and output. Clear to output audio from the computer. However, when projecting a movie with audio in Movie Sending Mode, audio is output from the projector regardless of this item's setting. Restore Defaults Click to set the audio to output from the projector.
Using a Computer to Set Up, Monitor and Control Projectors This chapter explains how to use a computer that is connected to the network to change projector settings and to control the projector.
Changing Settings Using a Web Browser (Web Control) You can set up and control the projector from a computer by using the Web browser of a computer that is connected to the projector via a network. Setup and control operations can be performed remotely if this function is used. In addition, since you can use the computer's keyboard, entering characters required for the setup is easier. Use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later as the Web browser.If using a Macintosh, you can also use Safari.
Changing Settings Using a Web Browser (Web Control) Items that can only be set in the Web browser The following items can only be set in a Web browser.
Using the Mail Notification Function to Report Problems By setting the Mail Notification function from the projector's Configuration Menu, notification messages will be sent to the preset email addresses when a problem or warning occurs with a projector. This will enable the operator to be notified of problems with projectors even at locations away from the projectors.
Management Using SNMP By setting SNMP from the projector's Configuration Menu, notification messages are sent to preset e-mail addresses when a problem or warning occurs with a projector. This is useful when controlling projectors collectively at a point distant from them. s User's Guide "Others Menu" q • SNMP should be managed by a network administrator or someone who is familiar with the network.
Presentations Using PC Free This chapter explains how to directly project image and movie files stored on USB devices, and scenarios created with EasyMP Slide Converter, using PC Free.
Files that can be Projected Using PC Free You can use PC Free to directly project files stored in USB storage devices and digital cameras that are connected to the projector. q 54 Type File Type (Extension) Notes DPOFg .mrk For DPOF version 1.10, only files named AUTPLAYx.mrk (where x is a number between 0 to 9) can be projected. USB storage devices that incorporate security functions sometimes cannot be used.
Files that can be Projected Using PC Free q • Files to which DRM (Digital Rights Management) is applied cannot be projected. • If you use a USB storage device with a slow access speed when playing back movies (when transmitting at higher bit rates), the movie files may not play back correctly or the sound may skip or not be output. • When using a USB hard disk, we recommend using an AC adapter power supply. • The projector does not support media formatted on some file systems.
PC Free Basic Operations 56 PC Free lets you play back and project scenarios, images, and movie files stored in USB storage devices, and image files in digital cameras. This section explains the basic operations for PC Free. Although the following steps are explained based on the Remote Control, you can perform the same operations form the projector's Control panel. Starting and Closing PC Free Starting PC Free Procedure A Switch the projected image to USB1.

Projecting Image and Movie Files 62 Image and movie files stored on a USB storage device and image files on a digital camera can be projected using PC Free by either of the following two methods. • Projecting Selected Image and Movie Files This is a function for projecting single files. • Projecting all image and movie files in a folder in sequence (Slideshow) This is a function for projecting the file contents of a folder in order, one file at a time.
Projecting Image and Movie Files q • JPEG format images can be rotated during projection.s p.58 • You can make the following operations using the remote control while playing movie files. Fast-forward: Press the [ ] button Rewind: Press the [ ] button ] button Freeze (Pause): Press the [ To return to normal playback, press the [Enter] button. Audio is not output while fast-forwarding, rewinding, or pausing are in progress.
Setting File Display Conditions and Slideshow Operations You can set the file display order and the Slideshow operations on the Option screen. Preparing a Scenario (Using EasyMP Slide Converter) This chapter explains how to convert a PowerPoint file to a scenario, and how to transfer to a USB storage device.
Scenario Summary By using EasyMP Slide Converter, you can convert PowerPoint files to files that can be played directly from the projector without needing to connect a computer. In this Guide these files are known as scenarios. Transfer the created scenarios to a USB storage device connected to the computer. Connect the USB storage device on which the scenarios are stored to the projector and start projection using PC Free.s "Playing a Scenario" p.
Converting PowerPoint Files to Scenarios 67 You can convert PowerPoint files and play back scenarios directly from the projector without needing to connect a computer. Convertible PowerPoint Files In EasyMP Slide Converter, files created with Microsoft PowerPoint 2002/2003/2007 (extensions .ppt/.pps/.pptx) can be converted into scenarios. Scenario Conversion Procedure Button Name A Convert Click to display the File Selection screen. Select a PowerPoint file and convert it to a scenario.
Converting PowerPoint Files to Scenarios 68 Procedure A Select "Start" - "Programs" (or "All Programs") - "EPSON Projector" - "EasyMP Slide Converter". The EasyMP Slide Converter Main screen is displayed. B Connect the USB storage device to the computer to save the scenario. C Click on the Main screen. Select the PowerPoint file to be converted into a scenario, and then click "Select". D The Set screen is displayed. Enter each of the items by referring to the following table, and then click "Next".
Converting PowerPoint Files to Scenarios Projector Resolution Select the Resolution for the projector that will project the scenario. Scenarios for which WXGA (1280 x 800 dots) has been set cannot be played back on XGA type projectors. After converting a file, copy it to memory. Select to follow the conversion procedure step-by-step. When selected, the Set screen is displayed each time a file is converted. Image Set the image quality for the converted file.
Converting PowerPoint Files to Scenarios q 70 • For Play a slideshow and convert files, it is automatically modified to use the screen's resolution depending on the projector's resolution (XGA or WXGA). After conversion, it returns to the previous screen resolution. • If PowerPoint is running. the conversion process cannot be performed. Close PowerPoint before starting conversion. Also, do not start PowerPoint during conversion.
Converting PowerPoint Files to Scenarios 71 H The Select Copy Location screen is displayed. Select the drive where the USB storage is connected and the copy location, and then click "OK". To set AutoRun, select Play automatically. (AutoRun setting). The scenario is transferred to the selected destination. I When transfer is complete, one of the following screens is displayed. When there is no AutoRun file in the USB storage device: The Continuous Play confirmation screen is displayed.
Converting PowerPoint Files to Scenarios 72 J Remove the USB storage device from the computer. See the computer's user's guide for the removal method. K After finishing transferring your scenario, connect the USB storage device to the projector and start projection using PC Free.s p.56 q When the resolution of the projector that is projecting the scenario is XGA type, scenarios for which WXGA (1280 x 800 dots) is set cannot be played back.

Appendix
Connection Limitations 75 When projecting computer images while running EasyMP Network Projection, the following restrictions apply. Confirm these points. Supported Resolutions Number of Connections The following computer screen resolutions can be projected. You cannot connect to a computer with a resolution greater than UXGAg.
Connection Limitations • Slide Show is played back in simple mode when projecting from Windows Photo Gallery. Because the toolbar is not displayed, you cannot make changes while playing a Theme (effects), regardless of the Windows Experience Index rating. Once simple mode has started, you cannot change modes while Windows Photo Gallery is running even if you close EasyMP Network Projection. Restart Windows Photo Gallery. • You cannot play movies.
Registering a Digital Certificate to the Projector 77 When Security is set to EAP-TLS from the projector's Network menu, you need to register the client certificate and the CA certificate in the projector for authentication. Save the client certificate and the CA certificate are in a USB storage device, and register to the projector with PC Free. q • The client certificate and the CA certificate need the extensions PFX (.pfx) and CER (.cer) respectively.
Registering a Digital Certificate to the Projector Registering a CA Certificate Procedure A Connect the USB storage device on which the Digital certificate is stored to the projector and start PC Free. The file list screen is displayed. B Press the [ ][ ][ ][ ] buttons on the remote control to position the cursor over the CA certificate (CER file) icon and press the [Esc] button. C Select "CA certificate" from the menu displayed, then press the [Enter] button.
Troubleshooting If any of the following problems occur and the indicators do not offer a solution, refer to the pages given for each problem. Problems concerning network functions "Cannot connect using EasyMP Network Projection" s p.80 "When a connection is made using EasyMP Network Projection, the projected image remains as it is, and a connection cannot be made from another computer." s p.80 "The projector is not found when EasyMP Network Projection is started." s p.
Troubleshooting 80 Problems Concerning Network Functions Cannot connect using EasyMP Network Projection Check the message on the screen and then apply the following countermeasures. Error Messages The application version used is not supported. Install the latest version of the application on your computer. Remedy Install the current version of EasyMP Network Projection from the EPSON Projector Software for Meeting & Presentation CD-ROM supplied with the projector.
Troubleshooting 81 Check Is the SSID the same as that of the access point?
