Decline in Print Quality
If the print quality declines, read through the following section and
try to match your problem with the descriptions below. The
descriptions may not always match your problem exactly, so try to
find
one
of a similar type.
Note: If the print quality problem remains after you work through
the suggestions in this section, make a list of the corrective steps
you have taken and contact your dealer or a qualified service
person for assistance.
The print quality is not what you expected.
CAUTION:
Make sure you install the photoconductor unit
before installing the toner cartridge; otherwise you may
damage the printer.
Printed pages have a dark
or
dirty background.
The print density may be set for darker print. Turn
the
print
density knob counterclockwise for lighter print.
The transfer charger wire may be dirty. Clean the wire as
described in Chapter 6.
There may be a problem with the toner cartridge or
photoconductor unit. Replace the cartridge as described in
Chapter 6. If that does not solve the problem, replace the
photoconductor unit.
If the print quality problem persists,
contact
a qualified service
person.
