How to Use This Appendix

The instructions in this appendix describe how to install and

remove optional Epson diskette and hard disk drives. All

drives sold by Epson for the Equity 386SX/16 PLUS are

qualified and recommended for use in this system. Your drive

may look a bit different from the one illustrated in this

appendix, but you install it the same way.

If you are installing or removing a non-Epson drive, some of

the steps in this appendix may not apply to your drive; see

the documentation that came with it for more information.

Each section describes a part of the process you may need to

perform. Here are the guidelines:

Before you begin any of the procedures described in this

appendix, follow the steps in Chapter 5 to remove the

computer’s cover.

If you are removing your only hard disk drive, see “Removing

a Hard Disk from the Vertical Position” on page B-24.

If you are installing a hard disk drive or removing one

and leaving another in the computer, follow the steps

under “Setting the Hard Disk Drive Jumpers” on page B-4

first.

If you are installing or removing a diskette drive and

there is a hard disk drive installed in the vertical

mounting position, see “Removing a Hard Disk from the

Vertical Position” on page B-24.

If you are installing or removing a diskette drive and

there is no hard disk drive installed in the vertical

mounting position, see “Installing or Removing a Disk

Drive in the Horizontal Position” on page B-27.

to perform next.
