Line Art Similar to Black & White Halftone, this
option saves the image in black and white. Line Art,
however, does not use shades of gray. Choose this
option if you are scanning a black and white
drawing or illustration.
OCRUse this option when you are scanning text
to be used with an Optical Character Recognition
(OCR) program.
Copy/FAXUse this option to scan an image that
has been faxed or photocopied.
Resolution
In scanning, the term
resolution
refers to how detailed
an image is, usually expressed in dots per inch (dpi).
When you scan an image, you can adjust the
resolution to improve the image, based on how you
plan to output the image.
The best resolution setting for your image depends on
the type of image you’re scanning and your final output
device.
Since a line art or
halftone ima
g
e
requires only 1 bit of
computer memory for
each pixel (dot), usin
g
either the Line Art or
Black & White
Halftone option will
produce an ima
g
e
that takes up the least
amount of space
when saved to disk.
