Follow these steps to enter a power-on password:
1.
When you turn on your computer, press the reset button, or
press

(Delete], you see the following prompt:
Enter password:
2.
Type your password and press
[.
The screen does not
display what you type.
After you enter the correct password, you see
Password
OK
and the computer loads your operating system.
If you do not enter the correct password, you
see Password
is
incorrect
and another prompt to enter the password.
You have two more chances to enter the correct password; try
again.
If you do not enter the correct password at the third prompt,
you see the following message:
System halted! Must power down.
The computer locks the keyboard. Press the reset button or turn
the computer off and on; then try to enter the correct password
again.
Changing or Deleting Passwords
You can change or delete the power-on password whenever
you
see the Enter password:
prompt, as described in this
section.
However, you cannot change or delete the power-on password
if a network password is activated. See page 4-7 for instructions
on deactivating the network password and then return to this
section to change or delete the power-on password.
