❏ Power cleaning consumes more ink than normal
head cleaning. Check the remaining ink level in
advance, and prepare a new ink cartridge before
you start cleaning if the ink is low.
❏ If the nozzles are still clogged after performing
power cleaning, turn off the printer and leave it
overnight or longer. When left for some time, the
clogged ink may dissolve.
If the nozzles are still clogged, contact your dealer or
Epson Support.
❏ If a Cleaning Error message is displayed on the
screen, see the following section to check the cause
and how to solve the problem.

Cleaning method
From the computer
Explanations in this section use the Windows printer
driver as an example.
Use Epson Printer Utility 4 for Mac OS X.

Click Head Cleaning from the Utility tab in the
printer driver's Properties (or Print Settings)
screen.

Click Start.
Head cleaning starts and it takes about one to ten
minutes.
C
Click Print Nozzle Check Pattern.
Confirm the nozzle check pattern.
If any segments are missing in the nozzle check
pattern, click Clean.
From the printer
Buttons that are used in the following settings
A
Press the [ button when the printer is in
ready status, when no paper is loaded, or when
printing is paused.
The Ink Menu is displayed.
B
Press the d/u buttons to select the type of
cleaning, and then press the Z button.
C
You can perform cleaning by pressing the Z
button when Auto Cleaning is selected.
If you have selected Manual Cleaning, select the
print head (color) to clean and press the Z
button.
If you have selected Manual Cleaning, you also
need to choose whether to perform normal
cleaning or power cleaning. Cleaning begins
once you have made your selection.
The P light starts flashing and head cleaning
starts (it takes one to ten minutes.) However,
when Auto Nozzle Check is set to On from the
Menu, it may take ten minutes or longer.
Cleaning is finished when the P light is on.
