3.2 DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY
❒ When you remove the ink cartridge, always install a new cartridge immediately after taking
out the old one.
❒ When you replace the ink cartridge, the printer performs the ink cartridge replacement
operation automatically.
The exclusive service cartridges have the following part numbers:
Monochrome: 1020626
YMC: 1027990
❒ Never keep ink cartridges longer than 6 months.
3.2.1 Printer Mechanism Disassembly
The procedures described in this section explain how to remove components in the printer mechanism.
3.2.1.1 Carriage Unit Removal
1. Remove the printer mechanism. (See Stylus Pro XL Service Manual, Section 3.2.4.)
2. Move the carriage to the left side of the printer while pressing the hook that fixes the carriage to the
home position.

Remove the 2 CBS (O) (M3× 6) screws securing the front frame to both side frames.
4. Remove the cartridge holder with from the carriage unit. (See the Stylus Pro XL Service Manual,
Section 3.2.5.1.)
5. Release the carriage timing belt from the belt pulley while pressing the pulley lever.
6. Remove the both sides flange nuts and plain washers.
7. Remove 2 parallelism adjustment bushings and carriage shaft spacers from both side frames.
8. Take off carriage shaft spacer L and carriage shaft spacers B, C, or D (if they have been installed).
