Handling
Before Handling the Product
Before handling the product, carefully read the following sections at the front of this manual:
“For Safe Repair and Maintenance Work,” “Precautions to Protect the Product,” and
“Precautions on Handling and Disposal of the Product.”
Turning the Power On or Off
The printer has two power switches. The rear power switch, next to the inlet for the power cord,
turns on or cuts off the voltage going into the printer. When the rear switch is off, all power is
off. When the rear power switch is on and you use the front switch to turn the printer off, power
continues to flow within the printer to allow the printer to perform important power down
functions, such as capping the nozzles to keep the ink from drying out.
CAUTION:
Since this is an ink jet printer, it must perform power down procedures, such as capping
the head, before power is turned off. Therefore, to maintain print quality, you must use
correct procedures to power the printer on and off.
WARNING:
If you encounter a problem with the printer, turn off the rear power switch or disconnect
the power cord regardless of the correct procedures mentioned here.
There are four appropriate ways to power the printer on and off:
Standard mode
Power switch fixed mode (power off command mode)
IM interlock mode
Power switch fixed mode + IM interlock mode
The purpose of each of these power on modes is described in the table below.
