Maintenance and Inspection
Proper maintenance is essential for keeping the printer in peak working condition, extending its
useful life, and preventing operational failures. Maintenance and inspection should be carried
out as described below.
Before Maintenance and Inspection
Before maintenance or inspection, carefully read the following sections at the front of this
manual: “For Safe Repair and Maintenance Work,” “Precautions to Protect the Product,” and
“Precautions on Handling and Disposal of the Product.”
Cleaning
Head cleaning
Follow the procedure below to clean the head.
1. Turn on the printer.
2. Open the printer cover.
3. Press the CLEANING button and close the printer cover. The POWER LED blinks while
head cleaning is conducted.
4. The POWER LED stays on when cleaning is complete.
5. Test the printing. If print quality has not improved, execute the head cleaning again.
Note:
If you have performed the head cleaning more than five times and the print quality is still poor, you may
need to repair the product such as replacing the head unit or main circuit board unit.
Removing stains
Wipe off stains using a soft dry cloth (a lint-free cloth). If stains cannot be wiped off, use a
neutral cleanser.
