Setting Up the Projector Follow the instructions in these sections to set up your projector for use. You can also install the projector in a ceiling mount if you want to use it in a fixed location.
Rear Front Ceiling Rear Ceiling Wherever you set up the projector, make sure to position it squarely in front of the center of the screen, not at an angle, if possible. If you project from the ceiling or from the rear, be sure to select the correct Projection option in the projector's menu system.

Caution: Use only the type of batteries specified in this manual.
1. Remove the battery cover. 2. Insert the batteries with the + and – ends facing as shown.
3. Replace the battery cover and press it down until it clicks into place. Warning: Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations. Do not expose batteries to heat or flame. Keep batteries out of the reach of children; they are choking hazards and are very dangerous if swallowed.

Setting Up Wireless Network Security You can set up security for your projector to use on the wireless network. Set up one of the following security options to match the settings used on your network: • WPA/WPA2-PSK security (Advanced connection mode) • WPA2-PSK security (Quick connection mode) Check with your network administrator for guidance on entering the correct information. 1. Network Projector E-mail Alert Messages When a problem occurs with a networked projector, and you selected to receive e-mail alerts, you receive an e-mail containing the following information: • Epson Projector on the subject line • The name of the projector experiencing a problem • The IP address of the affected projector • Detailed information about the problem Note: If a critical problem causes a projector to shut down, you may not receive an e-mail alert.
5. Enter up to two IP addresses to receive SNMP notifications, using 0 to 255 for each address field. Note: To enter the IP address using the numeric keys on the remote control, press and hold the Num button. Using Basic Projector Features Follow the instructions in these sections to use your projector's basic features.
1. Open the projector's lens cover. 2. Connect the power cord to the projector's power inlet.
3. Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet. Note: With Direct Power On turned on, the projector turns on as soon as you plug it in. The projector's power light turns blue. This indicates that the projector is receiving power. 4. Press the power button on the projector or the remote control to turn on the projector. The projector beeps and the Status light flashes blue as the projector warms up. Once the projector is warmed up, the Status light stops flashing and turns blue.
Note: When using the A/V Mute feature, the projector lamp is still on. To turn off the lamp, turn off the projector. 1. Press the power button on the projector or the remote control. The projector displays a shutdown confirmation screen. 2. Press the power button again. (To leave it on, press any other button.) The projector beeps twice, the lamp turns off, and the Status light turns off.
3. To transport or store the projector, make sure the Status light is off, then unplug the power cord. Caution: To avoid damaging the projector or lamp, never unplug the power cord when the Status light is on or flashing. 4. Close the projector's lens cover.
Parent topic: Using Basic Projector Features Selecting the Language for the Projector Menus If you want to view the projector's menus and messages in another language, you can change the Language setting. 1. Turn on the projector. 2. Press the Menu button. 3. Select the Extended menu and press Enter. 4. Select the Language setting and press Enter. 5. Select the language you want to use and press Enter. 6. Press Menu or Esc to exit the menus.
2. To adjust the front foot, pull up on the foot release lever and lift the front of the projector. The foot extends from the projector. 3. Release the lever to lock the foot. 4. If the image is tilted, rotate the rear feet to adjust their height. If the projected image is unevenly rectangular, you need to adjust the image shape.
Image Shape You can project an evenly rectangular image by placing the projector directly in front of the center of the screen and keeping it level. If you place the projector at an angle to the screen, or tilted up or down, or off to the side, you may need to correct the image shape for the best display quality. When you turn on automatic keystone correction in your projector's Settings menu, your projector automatically corrects vertical keystone effects when you reposition the projector.
After correction, your image is slightly smaller. Note: To provide the best possible image quality, adjust the projector's position to correct the image shape.

If there is more than one port for that source, press the button again to cycle through the sources.
Projection Modes Depending on how you positioned the projector, you may need to change the projection mode so your images project correctly. • Front (default setting) lets you project from a table in front of the screen. • Front/Ceiling flips the image over top-to-bottom to project upside-down from a ceiling or wall mount. • Rear flips the image horizontally to project from behind a translucent screen.

Password Security Types You can set up these types of password security using one shared password: • Power On Protection password prevents anyone from using the projector without first entering a password. • User's Logo Protection password prevents anyone from changing the custom screen the projector can display when it turns on or when you use the A/V Mute feature. The presence of the custom screen discourages theft by identifying the projector’s owner.
4. Press and hold down the Num button on the remote control and use the numeric buttons to set a four-digit password. The password displays as **** as you enter it. Then you see the confirmation prompt. 5. Enter the password again. You see the message "Password accepted." 6. Press Esc to return to the menu. 7. Make a note of the password and keep it in a safe place in case you forget it.

Locking the Projector's Buttons You can lock the buttons on the projector's control panel to prevent anyone from using the projector. Select the Control Panel Lock setting and press Enter. 4. Select one of these lock types and press Enter: • To lock all of the projector's buttons, select Full Lock.
Installing a Security Cable You can install two types of security cables on the projector to deter theft. • Use the security slot on the projector to attach a Kensington lock. See your local computer or electronics dealer for purchase information. • Use the security cable attachment point on the projector to attach a wire cable and secure it to a room fixture or heavy furniture.

You may need to clean the lens periodically, and clean the air filter and air vents to prevent the projector from overheating due to blocked ventilation.
• To remove stubborn smudges, moisten a soft, lint-free cloth with lens cleaner and gently wipe the lens. Do not spray any liquid directly on the lens. Warning: Do not use a lens cleaner that contains flammable gas. The high heat generated by the projector lamp may cause a fire. 3. Use the screwdriver included with the replacement lamp to loosen the screw securing the lamp cover. Warning: If the lamp is broken, glass fragments may be loose inside the lamp chamber. Be careful removing any broken glass to avoid injury. If the projector is installed on the ceiling, stand to the side of the lamp cover and not underneath it; pieces of glass could fall into your eyes or mouth when you open the lamp cover. 4. Slide the lamp cover out and lift it off.
5. Loosen the screws securing the lamp to the projector. The screws do not come all the way out. 6. Grasp the raised section of the lamp and gently pull the lamp out of the projector. 7. Gently insert the new lamp into the projector. If it does not fit easily, make sure it is facing the right way. Caution: Do not touch any glass on the lamp assembly to avoid premature lamp failure. 8. Push in the lamp firmly and tighten the screws to secure it.
Caution: Do not over-tighten the screws. 9. Replace the lamp cover and tighten the screw to secure it. Note: Be sure the lamp cover is securely installed or the lamp will not come on. • Check the audio cable connections between the projector and your video source. • If you do not hear sound from an HDMI source, set the connected device to PCM output. • Make sure any connected audio cables are labeled "No Resistance". • If you are using the USB Display function, turn on the Output audio from the projector setting in the Epson USB Display Settings program on your computer.
• If the projector's lamp shuts off, the Status light is flashing blue, and the Temp light is orange, the projector has overheated and shut off. Check the solutions for this light status. • If the power button on the remote control does not turn on the projector, check its batteries and make sure the Remote Receiver setting is turned on in the projector's menu, if available. • The power cord may be defective. Try another power cord. If that doesn't work, disconnect the cord and contact Epson.

Setting Up a Projector to Connect in Advanced Connection Mode (Wired) To connect a computer to the projector using a wired LAN, you need to select network settings on the computer and the projector. 1. Contact your network administrator and check that DHCP is available under the current network environment. Note: If DHCP is not available, write down the following values that are available for your projector. • IP Address • Subnet Mask • Gateway Address 2. Connect the computer to the network.
7. Select IP settings as necessary. • DHCP is available: Set DHCP to On. • DHCP is not available: Set DHCP to Off and enter the projector's IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway Address values as necessary. 8. When you have finished making settings, select Setup Complete or Complete, and follow the onscreen instructions to save your settings and exit the menus.
Connecting to the Projector and Projecting Images Follow these instructions to connect the computer and the projector over a network, and to project images from your computer's screen using the projector. Make sure you have already set up EasyMP Network Projection and selected a connection mode for the projector.
1. Press the LAN button on the remote control. The LAN standby screen is projected. 2. Start EasyMP Network Projection. • Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7: Click Start, select Programs (or All Programs), EPSON Projector, EasyMP Network Projection, and then click EasyMP Network Projection Ver.X.XX. • Windows 8.x: Navigate to the Apps screen and select EasyMP Network Projection Ver.X.XX. • Mac OS X: Double-click EasyMP Network Projection from the Applications folder.
3. Select Quick Connection Mode, and then click OK. The projector search results are displayed. 4. If the projector you want to connect to is not displayed in the search results, search for it using one of the following methods. • Automatic Search: Searches for the projector automatically. • Manual Search: Searches for the projector based on the SSID selected from a list. • Profile: Searches for the projector based on a previously saved profile. 5.
• Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: Enter the keyword displayed on the LAN standby screen, and then click OK. When the following dialog box is displayed, enter the passphrase set on the projector, and then click Connect. Note: If you select Save the passphrase and don't show this dialog box again, the projector's SSID and passphrase are saved on the computer and this dialog box is not displayed the next time you connect. You do not have to enter the passphrase again.
When a connection is established, the computer screen is projected. The following EasyMP Network Projection toolbar is displayed on the computer screen. Note: When a connection is established, the input source for the projector automatically switches to the LAN source if no other signal is being input. If the input source does not automatically switch to the LAN source, press the LAN button.

By using Advanced Connection Mode, you can search for projectors at remote locations on a different subnet. • Searching for Network Projectors Using a Profile You can save network projector information as a profile, and then specify the profile to search for the same projector instead of providing projector details each time you search.

A profile is a file containing all of the projector's information, such as the projector name, IP address, and SSID. By using a profile, you can easily search for saved projectors instead of providing projector details.

While the projector is displayed on the following screen, click Save in the profile.

Perform the following operations as necessary. • An overwrite confirmation screen is displayed: If you are prompted to confirm whether or not you want to overwrite, select Save as to save a profile with a different name. • A folder selection screen is displayed: If you have created a folder for profiles, one of the following screens is displayed. 2. Click Edit profile. The Edit profile screen is displayed.
3. Edit the profiles as necessary. 1 Displays the profiles. You can drag and drop profiles and folders to change the folder structure. 2 Duplicates the profile. The copied profile is saved in the same folder as the original with the same name. 3 Deletes the profile and the folder. 4 Displays the Rename dialog box to rename the folder or the profile. You can enter up to 32 characters in the Rename dialog box. 5 Exports the profile. Exported profiles can be used as backup files.
8 Displays the projectors saved in the profile. To delete a specific projector from the profile, select the projector and then press the Delete button. When all projector information has been deleted, the profile is also deleted. 4. Click OK. Your edits are saved and the Edit profile screen closes. 4. Click Select File. 5. Select the movie file you want to play, and then click Open.
The Movie Sending Mode screen is displayed again. The selected file is displayed in the Movie file list. If you click Select file again, the Movie file list currently displayed is cleared, and then only the files you select later are displayed in the list. 6. Arranging the Multi-Screen Display (Mac OS X) Projecting Images to the Arranged Multi-Screen Display Parent topic: Projecting Images Using the Multi-Screen Display Function Enabling the Virtual Display Driver (Windows) Before using the multi-screen display function, you need to enable the virtual display driver for Windows. Note: If you have already enabled the virtual display while installing EasyMP Network Projection, you do not need to enable it again. 1.
The virtual display drivers are enabled and the display may flicker. When the procedure is complete, the Add-Remove Virtual Display screen closes. Note: If the virtual display driver has been enabled so that the mouse pointer can be moved outside the limits of the screen, there may be occasions when you lose track of the location of the pointer.
5. Select Use multi-display.
Display layout and Display properties options are added at the bottom of the screen. 6. Click Display properties.
The Display Properties screen is displayed. 7. Click the Settings tab.
8. Drag the displayed monitor icon and place it where you want the additional image to appear. In the following example, the actual monitor (1) is placed on the left, while the additional monitor (3) is placed on the right. Note: • When the PC has multiple display output terminals, the numbers assigned to the virtual terminals are sequential to those of the physical terminals. • When an external monitor is connected as a secondary monitor, the image for that screen cannot be projected.
When the monitor icons have been arranged, displays are connected as shown in this image. 9. Click OK to close the Display Properties screen. Check the following items when connecting over a wireless LAN and modify the settings as necessary.

6. Click Display preferences. The Display setting screen is displayed. 7. Click Arrangement.

Projecting Images to the Arranged Multi-Screen Display After setting up multi-screen display, you can assign the images you want to project to each screen. 1. Open the file you want to project. 2. Drag the window to the desired display, and assign where the image is to be projected. 3. Select the projector and the number you want to assign from Display to set which image you want to project from which projector.
4. Click Connect. The image assigned to each projector is projected. Note: If you use a virtual display on Windows, you cannot view the image being sent to a virtual display on the computer. To adjust the image on the virtual display, check the projected image.

• Set DHCP to Off. Go to Network > Network Configuration > Wireless LAN > DHCP or Network > Network Configuration > Wireless LAN > IP Settings > DHCP. • Set Wireless LAN Power to On. Go to Network > Network Configuration > Wireless LAN > Wireless LAN Power. • When you enable the security setting, set the same passphrase to the computer and the projector. • Close network settings on the projector, and then return to the LAN standby screen. • Check the computer's network settings.
Solutions When You Cannot Connect Projectors Using Advanced Connection Mode (Wireless) When you cannot connect the computer and the projector using Advanced Connection Mode over a wireless network, try the following solutions. If you cannot resolve the problem, contact your network administrator. • Check the status of the external devices used for the network connection or the environment in which the network devices and the projector are located.
• Check the computer's network settings. • If the wireless LAN adapter is not installed on your computer, install a wireless LAN card on your computer. • Enable the wireless LAN setting or AirPort on your computer. • Connect to the access point to which the projector is connected. • Turn off the firewall. If you do not want to turn it off, register the firewall as an exception. Make the necessary settings to open the ports. The ports used by this software are "3620", "3621", and "3629".
Solutions When You Cannot Connect Projectors Using Advanced Connection Mode (Wired) When you cannot connect the computer and the projector using Advanced Connection Mode over a wired network, try the following solutions. If you cannot resolve the problem, contact your network administrator. • Check the status of the external devices used for the network connection or the environment in which the network devices and the projector are located. • Connect the network cable securely.
• If you cannot find the projector you want to connect to using Automatic search, select Manual search to specify the IP address. • If another user has established a connection and the projected image remains as it is, you can connect by interrupting the current connection. If a Projector Keyword is set for the projector but you do not know the keyword, restart the projector and check the keyword displayed on the LAN standby screen.
• If the PowerPoint slide show is not displayed where you want when using the multi-screen display function, use PowerPoint 2003 or later to make settings and use two or more virtual displays. Or, limit the number of displays to one before displaying the PowerPoint slide show.
• If the volume for the computer is set to the minimum while the projector volume is set to the maximum, the noise may be mixed. Turn up the computer's volume and turn down the projector's volume. Error Messages Remedy EasyMP Network Projection initialization failed. Restart EasyMP Network Projection. If the message is still displayed, uninstall and then reinstall EasyMP Network Projection. Network adapter information could not be obtained. Check the following items. • A network adapter is installed on the computer. • The driver for the network adapter being used is installed on the computer. • The network adapter is enabled.
Error Messages Remedy Connection to the projector failed. Try connecting again. If you still cannot connect to the projector, check the network settings on the computer and the network settings for the projector. The keyword does not match. Re-enter the keyword displayed on the projector screen. Check the Projector Keyword displayed on the LAN standby screen, and enter the Projector Keyword. Connection failed due to keyword mismatch. Enter the keyword displayed on the projector screen.
Installing EasyMP Network Projection (Mac OS X) Error Messages when Projecting Error Messages Remedy XXXXXX was disconnected. Try connecting again. If you still cannot connect to the projector, check the network settings on the computer and the network settings for the projector. To output audio from the projector, restart applications such as PowerPoint or Windows Media Player. Restart PowerPoint or Windows Media Player. Audio is then output from the projector.
Event ID Cause Remedy 04FE The network software ended unexpectedly. Check the status of network communications. Restart the projector. 04FF A system error occurred in the projector. Restart the projector. 0891 Cannot find an access point with the same SSID. Set the computer, the access point, and the projector to the same SSID. 0892 The WPA/WPA2 authentication type does not match. Check that the wireless LAN security settings are correct. 0893 The WEP/TKIP/AES encryption type does not match.
Event ID Cause Remedy 0B01 The built-in storage could not be detected correctly. Perform Delete All Internal Data. When the internal storage is deleted correctly, plugin the power cord for the projector and turn it on. If it is not deleted correctly, contact Epson as described in your projector User's Guide. Automatic search 2 In Advanced Connection Mode, searches for the available projectors on the network system to which the computer is connected. 3 Status Indicates the status for detected projectors as shown below. Available. Standby Available. When you click Connect, the computer currently connected is disconnected and your computer is connected. Busy Cannot be selected. Disable interrupt connection is set on another computer that is already connected. Busy (Disable interrupt connection) Currently in use by another application The projector's Configuration menu is open.
7 Use multi-display Select when using the multi-screen display function. When this is selected, Display layout and Display properties (Display preferences) are displayed at the bottom of the screen. 8 Troubleshooting Displays the EasyMP Network Projection Troubleshooting screen. 9 Connect Connects to the projector you selected from the search results list. When a connection is made with a projector, a toolbar is displayed.

• If you have created a folder for profiles. 1 Profile name Enter the profile name. 2 Save in Select the folder where you want to save the profile. 3 Add Registers the projector information in the profile.
Edit profile When you click Edit profile on the Set options screen, the Edit profile screen is displayed. 1 Profile Displays the profile. You can drag and drop profiles and folders to change the folder structure. 2 Copy Duplicates the profile. The copied profile is saved in the same folder as the original with the same name. 3 Delete Deletes the profile and the folder. 4 Rename Displays the Rename dialog box to rename the folder or the profile.
8 Projector name Displays the projector information saved in the profile. SSID or IP address Delete Deletes the selected projector from the profile. When all projector information is deleted, the profile is also deleted. Note: You can also access Set options by clicking the button on the toolbar.
Set options - General settings When you click the General settings tab on the Set options screen, the following screen is displayed. Use full-screen video transfer Windows XP only Plays back a movie file at full screen. If the projector does not support movie sending, this function cannot be set. Encrypt communications Select to encrypt and transmit data. Even if data is intercepted, it cannot be decrypted. When using Quick Connection Mode, make sure you always select this checkbox.
Make the movement of the mouse pointer smooth Use Easy Interactive Tools Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7 only Select to prevent the mouse pointer from flickering when Transfer layered window is selected in Adjust performance. (If Windows Aero is selected as the theme for Windows Vista and Windows 7, this setting turns off Windows Aero.) Select to use Easy Interactive Tools with EasyMP Network Projection. This setting is synchronized with Transfer layered window in Adjust performance.
Restore Defaults Resets all adjustment values for Set options to their default settings, except for Edit profile and Switch LAN in General settings.
Lower the resolution and transfer Available only for projectors with a resolution of WUXGA (1920 × 1200). Select to reduce the size of the data to be transferred to the projector by lowering the resolution. Use this option on a slow network or if it takes too long to display the image or projection is interrupted.
Set options - Audio Output When you click the Audio Output tab on the Set options screen, the following screen is displayed. Output audio from the projector Select to output the computer's audio from the projector. Clear to output audio from the computer. However, when playing movies with audio in Movie Sending Mode, audio is always output from the projector regardless of this setting. Note: Audio can only be transferred to one projector. Audio cannot be transferred when connected to multiple projectors.
Toolbar After EasyMP Network Projection starts and a connection is made with the projector, the toolbar is displayed on the computer screen. You can use this toolbar to operate and make settings for the projector, and to disconnect the network connection. Displays the Select target projector screen. Select target projector Click to limit the projectors operated from the toolbar when projecting from multiple projectors using the distribution function or multi-screen display function.
Displays the multi-screen preview screen. Screen Preview Click to display a preview with the settings you have made. Click each display to enlarge each Screen Preview to full-screen. Displays the Set options screen. Set options Click to adjust the transmission performance during the transfer of computer images. Starts Movie Sending Mode. (Supported models only) Movie Sending Mode Disconnects the connection to the projector.

6 Plays the current file from the beginning. 7 Plays the next file from the beginning. 8 Plays repeatedly from the first file in the list. You cannot repeat one specific file if there are multiple files in the list. Once simple mode has started, you cannot change modes while Windows Photo Gallery or Windows Live Photo Gallery is running, even if you close EasyMP Network Projection. Restart Windows Photo Gallery or Windows Live Photo Gallery. • You cannot play movies.
Limitations when Projecting from Windows Media Center Note the following limitations when projecting from Windows Media Center. • You cannot project images in full screen mode using Windows Media Center. Switch to window display mode to project the images. • If audio stops during playback when transferring audio from the computer to the projector using EasyMP Network Projection, try restarting the application you are using.
