User's Guide Scanner Basics Buttons and Lights on the Control Panel Buttons and Lights A Power button Turns the scanner on or off. Power light On: The scanner is ready to be used. Flashing: The scanner is scanning, waiting to scan, processing, or sleeping. Off: The scanner cannot be used because the power is off or an error has occurred. B Automatic Feeding Mode light The scanner is in Automatic Feeding Mode. Scanning starts when an original is placed in the input tray.

Close the cover to release the error. Load the originals again. The scanner cover is opened. Close the scanner cover. A fatal error has occurred. Turn the power off and on again. Non Separation feeding Use this when scanning special documents such as folded documents, plastic cards, carrier sheets, and so on. Scanning is performed without separating the documents. User's Guide Scanner Basics Separation Function: You can automatically process complicated sorting or organizing by using a variety of detection methods such as blank pages with/without barcodes which are inserted between the originals, or barcodes on the originals. You can also sort multiple scanned images as separate files and save each file in specific folders by using these methods or by setting specific pages.

Slide out the output tray, extend the output tray extension, and then raise the stopper. Note: ❏ For A4 size or larger originals, make sure you pull out and extend the input tray extension. ❏ Make sure you pull out and extend the output tray extensions, and raise the stopper so that the ejected originals can be stacked comfortably on the output tray.

There are three ways to specify the paper size in Epson Scan 2. Select Auto Detect (Long Paper) to detect the size automatically.

For envelopes with the opened edge (flap side) on the shorter side, you can load the envelope with the opened edge (flap side) facing up. Slide the envelopes into the ADF until they meet resistance. c Important: Do not load envelopes with adhesives on them.

Note: To stop the originals from bumping into the output tray and falling off the tray, store the output tray and do not use it to stack the ejected originals. 2. User's Guide Basic Scanning Required Settings for Special Originals in Epson Scan 2 You need to set certain items on the Main Settings tab in Epson Scan 2 when scanning special originals. Note: ❏ Make sure that Epson Scan 2 is installed on your computer and the scanner is connected to your computer correctly. ❏ When Document Capture Pro (Windows) or Document Capture (Mac OS) is installed on your computer, you can assign the job to a button on the scanner and run the job by pressing it. 1. User's Guide Advanced Scanning Advanced Scanning Scanning Different Sizes or Types of Originals One by One (Automatic Feeding Mode) You can scan different sizes or types of originals one by one using Automatic Feeding Mode. In this mode, the scanner starts scanning automatically when originals are loaded in the ADF. 1. Start Epson Scan 2. 2. Select Automatic Feeding Mode on the Main Settings tab. 3. Make other settings for scanning on the Epson Scan 2 main window. 4. Click Scan.
User's Guide Advanced Scanning The light on the scanner turns on, and the Automatic Feeding Mode window is displayed on your computer. 5. Make sure the page separation lever on the scanner is set correctly. To scan normal originals such as A4 paper, set the lever to (separation feeding). To scan special originals such as folded documents, plastic cards, or carrier sheets, set the lever to 6. (non separation feeding).
