8.1.2 Tools
Before starting up the PSTU, ensure that the following are available:
A PC equipped with a VT100 terminal emulator program (the PC is referred
to as the local terminal in this chapter)
A serial cable, such as the standard Operation and Maintenance Terminal
(OMT) cable, for connecting the serial port of the local terminal to the
console port of the PSTU
Tools for RBS maintenance (see chapter Tools and Instruments, section
Equipment for Maintenance in the RBS 2308 and RBS 2309 User’s Guide)
8.2 Work Proces
s for PSTU Startup
This sectio
n describes the PSTU startup sequence. When the exit criteria are
fulfilled,
the tester enters the results in the test record, and returns to the work
process for
the next step in the process.
All activit
ies in this chapter are described as being performed on-site.
Alternati
vely, the initial parameter-setting of the PSTU can be performed
in-house.
All command handling from the local terminal is then performed
in-house,
while the rest of the activities must still be performed on-site.
