4.5.2 How to create update tasks
Updates can be triggered manually by clicking Update virus signature database in the primary window displayed after
clicking Update from the main menu.
Updates can also be run as scheduled tasks. To configure a scheduled task, click Tools > Scheduler. By default, the
following tasks are activated in ESET Smart Security:
Regular automatic update
Automatic update after dial-up connection
Automatic update after user logon
Each update task can be modified to meet your needs. In addition to the default update tasks, you can create new
update tasks with a user-defined configuration. For more details about creating and configuring update tasks, see
section Scheduler.
4.6 Tools
The Tools menu includes modules that help simplify program administration and offers additional options for advanced
users.
This menu includes the following tools:
Log files
Protection statistics
Watch activity
Running processes (if ESET Live Grid is enabled in ESET Smart Security)
Scheduler
Quarantine
Network connections (if Personal firewall is integrated in ESET Smart Security)
