Deze handleiding beschrijft hoe u uw wasmachine zo optimaal mogelijk kunt benutten. Naast informatie over de bediening treft u ook achtergrondinformatie aan die u van dienst kan zijn bij het gebruik van dit apparaat.

VEILIGHEID Voordat u de wasmachine in gebruik neemt • Verpakkingsmateriaal kan gevaarlijk zijn voor kinderen. Houd verpakkingsmateriaal (plastic zakken, piepschuim e.d.) buiten bereik van kinderen. • Zorg ervoor dat het voltage en de frequentie gelijk zijn aan die van de wasmachine. • Gebruik geen stopcontact met een nominale stroom lager dan die van de wasmachine.
VEILIGHEID • Trek de stekker uit het stopcontact en sluit de watertoevoer af na gebruik. • Deze wasmachine is niet bedoeld voor gebruik door personen (inclusief kinderen) met verminderde lichamelijke, zintuiglijke of geestelijke vermogens of een gebrek aan ervaring en kennis, tenzij zij onder toezicht staan of worden geïnstrueerd over het gebruik van het apparaat door een persoon die verantwoordelijk is voor hun veiligheid. • Probeer niet om zelf reparaties uit te voeren.
VEILIGHEID • Vul de wasmachine nooit handmatig met water tijdens het wassen. • Nadat het programma is doorlopen, kunt u de vuldeur twee minuten nadat de programmakeuzeknop naar ‘0’ gedraaid is, of de stroomtoevoer naar de wasmachine is afgesloten, openen. • Vergeet niet de water- en stroomtoevoer af te sluiten, direct nadat het wasprogramma is afgerond is. Bescherming van de wasmachine • Klim of zit niet op de wasmachine. • Leun niet tegen de vuldeur van de wasmachine.
VEILIGHEID • Overbelast de wandcontactdoos niet en verleng de kabel niet. Overbelasting van de bedrading kan leiden tot brand of een elektrische schok. Trek de stekker nooit met natte handen uit het stopcontact. • Steek de stekker in verband met uw veiligheid altijd in een geaard, driepolig stopcontact. Controleer zorgvuldig of uw stopcontact goed geaard is. Servicebezoek Zorg dat het toestel vrij toegankelijk is en dat er geen toestel bovenop staat als u een servicebezoek krijgt.
INGEBRUIKNAME Controleer of het toestel is geplaatst en aangesloten volgens de instructies in het installatievoorschrift achter in deze handleiding. Bij aflevering van het apparaat in de winter met temperaturen onder nul: laat de wasmachine vóór het in gebruik nemen 24 uur op kamertemperatuur staan. Vóór het in gebruik nemen Voordat u de wasmachine in gebruik neemt, moet de wasmachine het wasprogramma met de hoogste temperatuur en met een lege trommel doorlopen.
BEDIENING Checklist en voorbereiding voor het wassen Lees deze aanpak nauwkeurig door om problemen met de wasmachine en beschadiging van wasgoed te voorkomen. • Controleer of nieuw wasgoed ontkleurt. Doop de punt van een witte handdoek in vloeibaar wasmiddel en wrijf hiermee stukjes van de binnenkant van het te wassen wasgoed in. Controleer of de witte handdoek de originele kleur van het wasgoed niet aanneemt. • Was nieuw wasgoed en bonte een keer apart, voordat u deze samen met ander wasgoed wast.
BEDIENING • Waspoeder kan resten achterlaten in wasgoed en kan een slechte geur veroorzaken. Spoel wasgoed dus voldoende uit. • Wasmiddel kan niet volledig oplossen als er teveel van gebruikt wordt of de wastemperatuur te laag is. Het kan achterblijven in wasgoed, pijpleidingen en in de wasmachine, waarbij het het wasgoed vervuilt. • Volg bij het wassen de aanbevelingen op de wasmiddelverpakking en houd rekening met het gewicht en de vervuilingsgraad van wasgoed.
BEDIENING • Verdeel de was gelijkmatig in de trommel. Het wassen van een enkel groot of zwaar kledingstuk (jeans, gewatteerde jassen) kan de trommel in onbalans brengen en de wasmachine laten wankelen. Was daarom altijd meerdere kledingstukken tegelijk en verdeel deze gelijkmatig in de trommel. • Bescherming van de gevoelige babyhuid. Babyproducten, waaronder kleding, luiers en morsdoekjes moeten apart gewassen worden.
BEDIENING • Waterbestendige stoffen. Geen waterbestendige stoffen in de wasmachine wassen (skikleding, gordijnen, regenjassen, autohoezen, slaapzakken etc.). Alle stoffen die niet goed water opnemen niet wassen in de wasmachine. De wasmachine kan gaan ‘wandelen’ en vibreren, dit kan de stoffen en de wasmachine ernstig beschadigen. • Waarschuwingen voor centrifugeren: ▷ Centrifugeren van normale was: het water wordt afgevoerd door de afvoerslang.

Kies het gewenste programma met de programmakeuzeknop. ▷ Draai de programmakeuzeknop naar het gewenste programma op basis van de textielsoort en kies daarbij de juiste temperatuur op basis van de vervuilingsgraad. Doorgaans verbruikt een hogere temperatuur meer energie.
BEDIENING Het wasprogramma is afhankelijk van het te wassen wasgoed. De in te stellen programma’s staan hieronder: • Katoen ▷ Dit lange, intensieve programma is bedoeld voor kleding die dagelijks gewassen mag worden. Was hiermee katoenen lakens, dekbedovertrekken, kussenslopen, kleding, ondergoed etc. • Synthetisch ▷ Dit programma is korter en minder intensief dan het katoenprogramma en is bedoeld voor synthetische was, waaronder shirts en jassen.
BEDIENING • Handwas ▷ Dit is een kort programma van ongeveer 30 minuten met koud water en een in te stellen toerental van de centrifuge. • Spoelen ▷ Een apart spoelprogramma. • Centrifugeren ▷ Een apart centrifugeerprogramma. Zeepsop en spoelwater worden weggepompt vóór het centrifugeren.
BEDIENING • Intensief ▷ Ter verhoging van het wasresultaat, wordt de duur van de hoofdwas verlengd. Deze functie kan gecombineerd worden met alle programma’s, op ‘Snelwas’, ‘Wassen’, ‘Pompen’ en ‘Centrifugeren’ na. Gebruik deze functie voor babykleding of kleding van mensen met een allergie voor wasmiddelen. Een wasprogramma afbreken Indien u een wasprogramma wilt onderbreken, draait u de programmakeuzeknop naar stand ‘0’.
BEDIENING • Druk nogmaals gedurende 2,5 seconden gelijktijdig op de rechter optietoets en voorwastoets. Er klinkt een pieptoon en het kinderslot is ontgrendeld. ▷ De kinderslotfunctie ontgrendelt automatisch nadat het gehele wasprogramma doorlopen is. Uitgestelde starttijd (EWM126L/EWM146L) Met de ‘Starten over...’-toets kunt u, na het kiezen van het gewenste programma, een tijd instellen. De wasmachine zal na de ingestelde tijd pas starten met het programma.

ONDERHOUD Voordat u met onderhoud begint • Neem de stekker uit het stopcontact of schakel de stroomtoevoer uit. • Sluit de kraan. Waarschuwing! • Oplosmiddelen zijn niet toegestaan, om te voorkomen dat de wasmachine beschadigt. • Sproei of spoel de wasmachine niet af met water. Kans op kortsluiting! Algemeen Reiniging en onderhoud van de wasmachinebehuizing Juist onderhoud van de wasmachine verlengt de levensduur. Het oppervlak kan gereinigd worden met een sopje van een mild schoonmaakmiddel.
ONDERHOUD Vorstpreventie Als uw wasmachine in een ruimte staat waar de kans op bevriezing groot is, zorg dan dat er geen resterend water in de toevoer- en afvoerslang achterblijft. Verwijderen van het resterende water in de toevoerslang: 1. Sluit de kraan 2. Schroef de toevoerslang uit de kraan en plaats het uiteinde in een emmer of bak. 3. Start een willekeurig programma, met uitzondering van ‘Wassen’ of ‘Pompen’. Indien water aanwezig is in de toevoerslang wordt dit er gedurende 40 seconden uitgepompt.
ONDERHOUD Reinigen van het toevoerfilter Het toevoerfilter moet gereinigd worden indien er geen of onvoldoende water in aanwezig is als de kraan geopend is. 1. Sluit de kraan. 2. Kies een willekeurig programma, behalve ‘Wassen’ of ‘Pompen’. 3. Kies de ‘START/PAUZE’-toets en laat het programma gedurende 40 seconden draaien. 4. Haal de toevoerslang van de kraan. 5. Maak het filter met water schoon. 6. Sluit de toevoerslang weer aan. Het filter in de wasmachine reinigen 1.
ONDERHOUD De afvoerpomp moet geïnspecteerd worden als: • het water niet afgevoerd wordt, • de wasmachine niet centrifugeert, of, • er ongebruikelijke geluiden klinken tijdens het wegpompen van water door voorwerpen zoals veiligheidsspelden en muntjes die de pomp blokkeren. Reinigen van het afvoerpompfilter 1. Schakel de stroom uit en open vervolgens het servicepaneel (eventueel met een munt of schroevendraaier). 2. Indien van toepassing: wacht totdat het water is afgekoeld. 3.
STORINGEN Storingstabel Wanneer u twijfelt over de goede werking van uw wasmachine betekent dit niet automatisch dat er een defect is. Controleer in elk geval de volgende punten in onderstaande tabel of kijk voor meer informatie op de website ‘www.etnaservice.nl’. Probleem Oorzaak Wasmachine doet het niet. NL 28 Oplossing Controleer of de vuldeur goed gesloten is. Controleer of de stekker goed in het stopcontact zit. Controleer of kraan geopend is. Controleer of de ‘START / PAUZE’-toets ingedrukt is.
STORINGEN Probleem Oorzaak Oplossing In de wasmiddellade zitten wasmiddelresten. Het waspoeder is vochtig en samengeklonterd. Maak de wasmiddellade schoon. Gebruik vloeibare wasmiddelen of wasmiddelen speciaal voor machinewas met trommel. De wasresultaten zijn niet goed. De was is te vuil. Onvoldoende of teveel wasmiddel gebruikt. Kies een juist wasprogramma. Voeg de juiste hoeveelheid wasmiddel toe volgens de instructies op de wasmiddelverpakking.
STORINGEN Storingen verhelpen NL 30 Foutcode Beschrijving Oorzaak Oplossing E1 Probleem met de deurvergrendeling. De vuldeur is niet goed gesloten. Programma opnieuw starten nadat de vuldeur gesloten is. Bel de servicelijn indien het probleem zich blijft voordoen. E2 Watertoevoerprobleem tijdens het wassen (de watertoevoer duurt langer dan 5 minuten). De kraan is niet (ver genoeg) geopend. De inlaatklep is geblokkeerd. Open de kraan of wacht tot de watertoevoer normaal wordt.
MILIEU ASPECTEN Afvoeren toestel en verpakking Bij de vervaardiging van dit toestel is gebruik gemaakt van duurzame materialen. Dit toestel moet aan het eind van zijn levenscyclus op verantwoorde wijze worden afgevoerd. De overheid kan u hierover informatie verschaffen. De verpakking van het toestel is recyclebaar. Gebruikt kunnen zijn: • karton; • polyethyleenfolie (PE); • CFK- vrij polystyreen (PS- hardschuim). Deze materialen dient u op verantwoorde wijze en conform de overheidsbepalingen af te voeren.
INSTALLATIE Uw wasmachine uitpakken en neerzetten • Verwijder het verpakkingsmateriaal en controleer of er transportschade is ontstaan. • Controleer of alle onderdelen (zoals weergegeven op pagina 5) in het bijgeleverde zakje aanwezig zijn. • Neem onmiddellijk contact op met uw plaatselijke dealer indien u transportschade of missende onderdelen constateert. Het verpakkingsmateriaal weggooien • Het verpakkingsmateriaal van dit apparaat kan gevaarlijk zijn voor kinderen.
INSTALLATIE max. 1 cm Stelvoetjes stellen 1. Controleer, voordat u de wasmachine plaatst, of de stelvoetjes in hun oorspronkelijke positie staan, zo ver mogelijk in de wasmachine gedraaid. Als dit niet het geval is, moet u ze met de hand of met een sleutel vast draaien. 2. Druk, na het positioneren van de wasmachine, achtereenvolgens op de vier hoeken op de bovenkant van de wasmachine. Wanneer de wasmachine wankelt bij het drukken op een van de hoeken, moet het stelvoetje onder deze hoek gesteld worden.
INSTALLATIE Let op: • Wanneer er na de aansluiting sprake is van lekkage bij de toevoerslang, herhaal dan stap 1 en 2 om de toevoerslang goed te bevestigen. • Er moet een standaard kraan gebruikt worden voor de watertoevoer. Wanneer de kraan vierkant of te groot is, dient de standaard kraan gewijzigd te worden. Afvoerslang Correct * Stankafsluiter NL 34 Fout max. 100 cm min.
INSTALLATIE ▷ Kleine gootstenen of wastafels zijn niet geschikt voor de waterafvoer. Het water zou kunnen overlopen! ▷ De afvoerslang kan water omhoog en naar beneden afvoeren. De afvoerslang mag niet hoger geplaatst worden dan 100 cm en niet lager dan 60 cm. ▷ Het uiteinde van de afvoerslang mag niet in het weggepompte water hangen. Zo zou water in het apparaat teruggezogen kunnen worden! ▷ Als de afvoerslang te lang is, forceer deze dan niet in de wasmachine. Dit veroorzaakt ongewenste geluiden.

SAFETY Before you start to use the washing machine • Packaging materials can be hazardous for children. Keep packaging materials (plastic bags, polystyrene etc.) out of reach of children. • Make sure that the voltage and frequency are the exact match of those for the washing machine. • Do not use a socket with a rated current lower than that of the washing machine.
SAFETY • This washing machine is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacity or with a lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are supervised or instructed in how to use the appliance by a person, who is responsible for their safety. • Do not attempt to carry out repairs yourself.
SAFETY Protecting the washing machine • Do not climb or sit on the washing machine. • Do not lean against the door of the washing machine. • Do not close the door using excessive force. If it proves difficult to close the door, then check that the drum is not overloaded and/or that the laundry is evenly distributed in the drum. Safety precautions during transportation • Any excess water should be drained. • The transport bolts should be re-fitted by a qualified person. • Handle the machine with care.
SAFETY Service visit Make sure that the appliance is freely accessible and that no appliance is on top when you receive a service call. The plug should also be accessible.
COMMISSIONING Make sure the unit has been installed and connected according to the instructions in the installation instructions at the back of this manual. When delivering the appliance in winter at temperatures below zero: allow the washing machine to stand for 24 hours at room temperature before you attempt to use it. Before using the appliance Before you start to use the washing machine, the washing machine must complete a wash at the highest temperature and with an empty drum.
OPERATION Checklist and preparation for washing Read these procedures carefully to prevent problems from occurring with the washing machine and your laundry from getting damaged. • Check whether new laundry discolours. Dip the tip of a white towel in liquid detergent and rub the inside of sections of the laundry that is being washed. Check that the white towel does not pick up any of the original colour of the clothing. • Wash new clothes and colours once separately, before washing them with other clothes.
OPERATION • Detergent may not dissolve completely if too much is used or the washing temperature is too low. It can remain in fabrics, pipes and in the washing machine, thereby affecting the laundry. • Always follow the recommendations on the detergent packet and take account of the weight and degree of soiling of the laundry. Consult your local water company if you are uncertain about the hardness of the water. • Note: store detergent in a safe, dry place, out of reach of children.
OPERATION • Protecting sensitive baby skin. Baby products, including clothing, nappies and bibs should be washed separately. The rinse time should be extended to prevent any residues of detergent from remaining in the laundry. • For best results, we recommend first hand-washing heavily soiled articles such as collars and cuffs, etc. before putting them in the washing machine. Soap residues can be left in the laundry when using ordinary soap. • Prewash.
OPERATION • Warnings about spinning: ▷ Spinning normal washing: the water is drained through the drain hose. ▷ Spinning waterproof clothing and fibre products: when spinning all of the water collects in the middle, the washing machine can start to 'walk' and vibrate, and this can seriously damage the fabrics and the washing machine. The first wash Before you start to use the washing machine, the washing machine must complete a wash at the highest temperature and with an empty drum. Proceed as follows: 1.
OPERATION 5. Select the desired program using the program selector dial. ▷ Turn the program selector dial to the desired program based on the type of fabric and select the correct temperature based on the degree of soiling. A higher temperature usually consumes more energy. ▷ Set the correct spin speed by (repeatedly) pressing the spin speed button. The higher the speed, the dryer the laundry will be when it comes out of the machine. It will also be a bit more creased.
OPERATION The wash program depends on the laundry being washed. The programs that you can set are below: • Cotton ▷ This long, intensive program is intended for clothing that may be washed every day. This includes cotton sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, clothing, underwear etc. • Synthetics ▷ This program is shorter and less intense than the cotton program and is intended for synthetic washing, such as shirts and jackets. For curtains and textiles containing lace select the synthetics 40°C program.
OPERATION • Hand wash ▷ This is a short program lasting about 30 minutes with cold water and an adjustable spin speed. • Rinse ▷ A separate rinse program. • Spin ▷ A separate spin program. Soapy water and rinse water are pumped out before spinning. Adapting wash programs using the option buttons You can still further adjust the selected washing program using the option buttons, by pressing the option key (several times), you can select 'Extra water', 'ECO', 'Anti-crease' or 'Intensive'.
OPERATION • Intensive ▷ To improve washing results, the length of the main wash is extended. This function can be combined with all programs, except for 'Quick wash', 'Wash', 'Pump' and 'Spin'. Use this function for baby clothing or clothing of people with an allergy to detergents. Aborting a wash program If you want to interrupt a wash program, turn the program selector dial to position '0'. Where required, start the spin program to pump out the remaining water.
OPERATION • Press the right-hand option button and prewash button together for a further 2.5 seconds . A beep sounds and the child lock is unlocked. ▷ The child lock function automatically unlocks after the wash program has completed in full. Delayed start time (EWM126L/EWM146L) You can set a time by pressing the 'Start in...' button, after selecting the desired program. The washing machine will only start the program after the set time.

MAINTENANCE Before starting maintenance • Remove the mains lead or turn off the power supply. • Switch off the tap. Warning! • To avoid damaging the machine solvents are not allowed. • Do not spray or rinse the washing machine with water. Risk of short circuit! General Cleaning and maintaining the machine housing Proper maintenance of the washing machine extends its service life. The surface can be cleaned with a mild detergent solution. If any water overflows, use a damp cloth to remove it.
MAINTENANCE Removing the remaining water in the fill hose: 1. Switch off the tap 2. Unscrew the fill hose from the tap and insert the end into a bucket or container. 3. Start any program except for 'Wash' or 'Pump'. If there is any water present in the fill hose it will be pumped out for 40 seconds. 4. Connect the fill hose back on to the tap. Removing the remaining water in the drain pump Unscrew the pump/filter cover and allow the water to drain out.
MAINTENANCE Cleaning the inlet filter The inlet filter should be cleaned if there is no water or insufficient water when the tap is switched on. 1. Switch off the tap. 2. Select any program except for 'Wash' or 'Pump'. 3. Select the 'START/PAUSE' button and allow the program to run for 40 seconds. 4. Remove the hose from the tap. 5. Clean the filter with water. 6. Re-connect the fill hose. Cleaning the filter in the washing machine 1. Unscrew the fill hose from the back of the washing machine. 2.
MAINTENANCE The drain pump must be inspected if: • the water is not draining, • the washing machine is not spinning, or, • unusual noises can be heard when pumping out water due to objects such as safety pins and coins, which are blocking the pump. Cleaning the drain pump filter 1. Switch off the power and then open the service panel (where applicable, with a coin or a screwdriver). 2. Where applicable: wait until the water has cooled down. 3. Put a container close to it to collect the water.

EN 28 Solution Check that the door is properly closed. Check that the plug is properly plugged in at the socket. Check that the tap is switched on.
FAULTS Problem Cause Solution There are detergent residues in the detergent drawer. The washing powder is wet and in clumps. Clean the detergent drawer. Use liquid detergent or detergent specially designed for washing machines with a drum. The washing results are poor. The washing is too dirty. Insufficient or too much detergent used. Select the correct wash program. Add the correct amount of detergent according to the instructions on the detergent packaging.
FAULTS Troubleshooting EN 30 Fault code Description Cause Solution E1 Problem with door lock. The door is not closed properly. Restart the program after the door has been closed. Call the service line if the problem persists. E2 Water fill problem during the wash (the water fill takes longer than 5 minutes). The tap has not been opened (sufficiently). The inlet valve is blocked. Open the tap or wait until the water fill is once again normal. Check the filter for the inlet valve.

INSTALLATION Unpacking and positioning your washing machine • Remove the packaging and check whether any damage has been caused in transit. • Check that all components (as shown on page 5) are in the supplied bag. • Immediately contact your local dealer if you identify any damage in transit or missing parts. Dispose of the packaging material • The packaging material for this appliance may be hazardous to children. Throw it away immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.
INSTALLATION max. 1 cm Setting the adjustable levelling feet 1. Before you fit the washing machine, check that the adjustable levelling feet are in their original position, tightened as far into the machine as possible. If this is not the case, you need to tighten them by hand or with a spanner. 2. After positioning the washing machine, push on the four corners on the top of the washing machine in turn.
INSTALLATION Note: • If after connecting there is a leak from the fill hose, then repeat steps 1 and 2 to fasten the fill hose properly. • A standard valve should be used for the water supply. INSTALLATION ▷ Small sinks or basins are not suitable for draining the water. The water could overflow! ▷ The drain hose can drain water up and down. The drain hose should be placed no higher than 100 cm and no lower than 60 cm. ▷ The end of the drain hose should not hang in the water that is being pumped away. Otherwise water could be sucked back into the appliance! ▷ If the drain hose is too long, then do not force it into the washing machine. This causes unwanted noises.
