OPERATING the FIREPLACE
Element4 Gas Fireplaces EuropeanHome.com
THE FIRST FIRE
Before lighting the replace for the rst time, ensure that the replace is clean and free of any foreign objects, dust or construction
debris. Make certain that all of the electric, gas and venting connections are proper and secure.
The rst time you light your replace an odor may be given o by the hot metal. This is normal and is a result of the ‘burn o’ of
the lubricants and sealants used when manufacturing the replace. We recommend that you open the nearby windows for extra
ventilation and operate the replace for at least four hours.
Upon lighting the replace when the glass is cold, some condensation may appear on the glass. This is normal and the
condensation will disappear as the glass warms.
During this rst re, examine the ame for appearance and quality. Examine the burner media for sooting. The ames should look
like those shown in Figure 48.
After this burn-o period, turn o the replace and let it cool completely to room temperature and clean both sides of the glass
and the interior panels as described in the MAINTENANCE section.
Since it is a metal replace, the heat-up and cool-down cycles may produce some noises caused by the expansion and contraction
of these metals. The premium materials and build quality of your replace will keep these sounds to a minimum.
Automatic Turndown.
1. In Manual/Temperature/Timer modes, the valve will turn to pilot ame if there is no change in ame height for a six hour
period. In Temperature or Timer mode, if the ambient room temperature changes, the ame height will adjust automatically to
maintain set temperature and the re will continue to function normally. The valve will turn to pilot ame if the set temperature
and the ambient room temperature remain the same over a six hour period.
2. The valve turns to pilot ame if the temperature in the receiver is higher than 140°F/60°C. The main burner comes back on only
when the temperature is below 140°F/60°C.
Automatic Shut O.
1. With low battery power in the receiver, the system shuts o the re completely. This does not happen if the power supply is
interrupted.
2. The system shuts o the re completely if there is no change in ame height for 5 days.
3. The system shuts o the re if the main burner does not completely ignite approximately 20 seconds after ignition or after
pushing the Ç button.
