Inserting / replacing batteries
Open the battery compartment
Insert 2 mignon alkaline batteries (Type LR6, AA,
AM3 ) do not use rechargeable batteries!
Ensure that the polarity is correct. Batteries that are
inserted incorrectly, or that leak can destroy the
SPARmatic. The service life of new batteries is
approximately 2 years. It is necessary to change
batteries when the display shows BATT.
After replacing batteries, or after a power supply
interruption, SPARmatic always executes an
automatic adaptation.
However this does not apply for the first
installation.
Dispose of old batteries in accordance with WEEE
guideline 2002/96/EC.
Attention: Do not dispose of batteries in household
waste!!

Select an adapter if necessary:
Adapters are required for some valve types.
Prior to mounting, select the appropriate adapter
as shown in the adapter table.
If you require an adapter:
Push the adapter onto the valve and turn it until it
noticeably clicks into place. If the adapter is fitted
with a screw, tighten the adapter with the screw.
The instruction INST is shown in the display.
Since SPARmatic has already moved into the ON
position while date and time were programmed it can
be quickly and easily mounted with a single hand
movement.
Hand-tighten the union nut until the device is firmly
fixed on the valve body. For possible later installations
move the thumb wheel to ON. This facilitates the
installation.
Press any button and will start to adapt.
The device will adapt itself to the stroke of your valve
body. To do this the valve will now be opened and
closed several times to learn the end points.
In some cases this process can take a few minutes.
During this adaptation process ADAPT will be
shown in the display.
SPARmatic
After successful adaptation returns
to normal mode.
Should adaptation become necessary again,
e.g. if your radiator does not cool down in
OFF Position, please press the button
