10 TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem Cause Solution
No display when
turned on
Batteries not in place
Batteries not in correct polarity
(+ and -).
Weak batteries
Check that batteries are in place and
making good contact.
Reinsert batteries with correct polarity.
Replace batteries or attach optional AC
adapter.
Unstable readings Insufficient reference electrolyte in
probe.
Broken probe.
External noise pickup or induction
caused by nearby electric motor.
Dirty probe.
Fill probe with reference electrolyte.
Replace the probe.
Move or switch off interfering motor.
Clean probe. See Section 9.3 on page
39.
Slow response Dirty / Oily probe or dirty membrane. Clean probe. See Section 9.3 on page
39.
Meter not
responding to key
press.
HOLD mode in operation.
Damaged keypad.
Internal program error.
Cancel HOLD mode by pressing it
again.
Return meter.
Reset all internal programs by re-
inserting batteries.
