Grounding Instructions:
The disposer needs to be grounded. If there is a malfunction or breakdown the grounding provides a path of
least resistance for electric current. This reduces the risk of electric shock or re. The power cord being installed
must have an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an
appropriate outlet that is correctly installed and grounded in accordance with all applicable local codes,
regulations, and ordinances.
Danger:
An improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock or re.
Please confer with a qualied electrician or serviceman if you are uncertain as to whether the appliance is
correctly grounded.
Instructions for Installing Power Cord
1. Turn the disposer upside down
2. Remove the cover plate to gain access to the end bell which is the motor wiring compartment.
3. Remove the lock nut from connector.
4. Slip the connector over the exposed wired end of the power cord 4½ ". Tighten screws (2) tightly.
5. Insert the exposed wired end of the power cord through the round hole of the disposer wiring compartment
and through the lock nut.
6. Insert lock nut into end bell and with your ngers hold it so that it is directly behind the round hole in the
disposer end bell. The large end of the lock nut faces inside of the end bell.
7. Insert the threaded end of the connector through the end bell hole and screw
into the lock nut until tight.
8. Unscrew the ground screw and re-install through eyelet terminal on
green ground wire of power cord. Connect white or blue motor lead to
ribbed wire of power cord. Connect black or brown motor lead to other
(smooth) wire of power cord. Use wire nuts to connect.
9. Cautiously push wires back into the motor end bell and re-install cover
plate. Assure that the receptacle that the disposer is being plugged into is a
grounded receptacle. Confer with a licensed electrician if you are uncertain
whether the receptacle is properly grounded.

If the power cord fails due to a manufacturing
defect within one year from the date of original
purchase, we will replace it with a new power
cord without charge. To make a claim, please

of purchase will be required.
