Determine the height at which you want to install the closet rod. Measure up from the oor
and make a mark on one side wall inside the closet with a pencil. Determine the distance
away from the wall at which you want to install the closet rod. A minimum of 10 inches is
best, but it will depend on the size of your hanger. Adjust your mark so that it continues to
be at the correct height and now at the correct depth. Repeat this process on the other side
of the closet. If there is a shelf above the rod, determine the vertical distance from the rod
to the shelf, two inches should be enough.
DETERMINE ROD PLACEMENT
Determine if there is a stud behind the wall at the locations you marked. If there is a stud
there, you can proceed with pre-drilling a hole for the bracket screw using a 1/4 inch drill
bit. Attach the round-bracket to the wall using a two-inch wood screw. Repeat the process
on the other side of the closet for the u-shaped bracket, making sure the open section is
up. If there is no stud, you must install a drywall anchor, or 1 by 5 piece of wood screwed
into the studs on the side walls. These will give you a solid base where you can attach your
bracket. (Note: It is recommended to place supports every 16 inches.)
DRILL AND ATTACH WALL BRACKETS
Measure the distance from bracket to bracket. Then measure and mark the closet rod at
that measurement. Double check your measurement before cutting the closet rod. If you
accidentally cut the rod too short, it will be useless. Then cut the rod to size.
MEASURE, MARK AND CUT THE ROD
Insert the rod into the round bracket rst then slide the rod into the u-shaped bracket.
