Note: Applicable building codes or other local laws
may require the installation of additional CO and fire
alarms in addition to the minimum recommended by
this manual.
Bedrooms. A major threat from poisonous
Heat occurs at night when people are
sleeping. For added protection, Heat alarms
can be installed in all sleeping rooms.
Living Spaces. To enhance safety, a Heat
alarm can be located in the living spaces of a
home.
Recommended Locations for your Heat Alarm
Recreation and Dining Rooms. For
additional protection, a Heat alarm can be
located in the other living spaces of the
home.
Hallways. A Heat alarm is required to be
centrally located outside of each sleeping
area, and on every level of the home.
If your hallway is longer than 40 feet, install a
Heat alarm at both ends.
Basements. A Heat alarm should be located
on every level of the house, including the
basement.
